Who here hates the Thalmor? Personally I think they are racist elves who are no better than the Nazis. Who else wishes to see the Thalmor burn in Oblivion?

It's not Godwin's Law when the Nazi allusion is pretty clear, agreed upon, and probably intentional. Although interestingly, having read a number of Skyrim threads over at Stormfront, it seems the Nazis themselves think the Thalmor represent Jews, and the Empire, ZoG.

They're the typical bad guys of course, it's pretty hard to seriously agree with their actions. I do love them as an ingame faction though. I hope we'll see more Thalmor in the future.

I tend to leave them alone in game, until after a certain quest has them sending out a contract to have me killed, for being a threat to the Thalmor.

...after that... it.is.ON...

Outside of those devout to all-things-Mer, everyone agrees that the Thalmor are indeed the evil regime. Nearly all evidence and conversations support this opinion, although they're ambiguous enough to defend if someone really wants to.

The only thing I hate more than a racist is an elf.

Racism is hating a race based on limited or no information. However, 100% of the Thalmor I have encountered have been rude and haughty, and typically only survive due to being in a town where I would antagonize the guards if I killed said Thalmor. Therefore, based on experience, I hate the Thalmor as a race.

I find it humorous that the Orcs I have met in-game have been more friendly and helpful than the other elves I have met. Wood elves and Orcs hate each other, as a fantasy-world standard. Dark elves aren't helpful or harmful, just 'there'. Wood Elves are rare indeed, and I somehow got my elf escort killed in the Thalmor Embassy during the MQ.

And don't get me started on the humans in this game! I spent a half hour giving Thorald Silver-Blood (in the Markarth Bank?) a constant beat-down, but he's a mandatory NPC so can't be killed. But repeatedly shanking him was satisfaction at it's finest.

Maybe I just have a bad attitude? After all, growing up in the wild, away from civilization tends to foster antisocial behaviors and limits interactions. But I learned to use soap!

There's no neutral option towards the Thalmor? Or mild versions of like and dislike?

My female Argonian vampire and her wife, Brelyna of House Telvanni, both hate yellow elves, so they signed up with Ulfric. Skyrim belongs to the Nords!

Yup, try too kill them whenever I see them. DOWN WITH THE THALMOR!

I'm sure this can be a discussion thread about the Thalmor, too, Duruza. Besides, Bethesda obviously set the Thalmor up as one of the major antagonists in the story. I don't think anyone will get too offended in this thread.

Duruza, I love you as much as the next anonymous forum-poster, but none of this should ever be taken on a personal level. For those looking for entertainment from a video game and not necessarily morals or dilemmas, the Thalmor are simply the "bad guys" and either the Empire or Stormcloaks are the "good guys". Some--like you, me, and many others--enjoy immersing and seeing things at a much deeper level.

So, in essence, if you want to defend the Thalmor, all the power to you, please do. But try your best not to take what others say, if they disagree with you, beyond the superficial.

Now if people are going to bash the Thalmor, at least do it properly with evidence and intelligent discussion. Provide some evidence so that others can refute it, don't just say, only people so blind that they love Mer actually don't think the Thalmor are the root of all evil.

I'm sick of all the "Mer are inherently Evil" moo.
