My wife spent 6 hours yesterday selling over 13,000 pounds of goods and gained nearly 100,000 gold for the effort.

I only pick up what I need and what I plan on using. Nothing more. I have nothing like a hoarding problem.

I think in oblivion I might have been more so. But in Skyrim there are plenty of times I don't even search dead bodies for shiny loots.

Your wife and I would probably make quite a lovely collection between the two of us. My game houses tend to have the feel of this, although I like my clutter neatly organized and put away in containers. Truth is I have a hard time letting go. "Oh, I might use this later!" I always say. Pffft, yeah, right, Avron!

The good news is I'm in a habit of getting rid of things if I make ten rounds to the market and haven't used it once...or I just dump it on poor Lydia. She sure does carry my burdens, all right.

That's a lot of Penitus Oculatus armor in the back.

I hoard because I'm unable to sell. I claim it as my birthright when playing a game like this that I should be able to pick up everything and sell it for an amount of money that vaguely resembles its worth...but I'll settle for the most valuable things I can carry. Still, I expect to be able to sell them.

I ended up taking the speech perks toward the end of the game just so I could make loops around towns and actually unload things. Prior to that point my computer groaned every time I tried to open one of the containers in my house, and insisted on taking a smoke break first.

Yes. I always pick random stuff (well, not everyhting, I don't waste time picking food or items that are worth 0 septims)...

I dislike leaving things on chests/corpses because I can't carry anymore....

I love collecting things....... I don't know if you call me a hoarder because I don't collect more than two of the same thing. but I try and get every single type of weapon which makes enchanting hard because I have to two of an item before I destroy it then I take all my unique/cooler weapons and display them around my house in Windhelm although skyrim is being all glitchy and throwing all the stuff I put up on shelves on the floor. Had a really nice dragon claw display and now its on the floor.

I'm a vacuum cleaner, anything that ain't nailed down goes right into my bags *swish swish swish swish swish" faster than the eye can see.

Have only half an idea of what I might have in my bags at any given moment because I yoink stuff up so fast I don't even see what it is.

"Hmmm, I might have a torch..."

Its like a disease, I've tried to stop, tried to play the game as a guy who only grabs stuff that makes sense.

But sooner or later I always find myself picking flowers and harvesting salmon and gathering baskets and buckets and brooms even though its just a big waste of time.

"I should keep ten of each thing in case I need them for a quest later."

"Hmm, maybe I should keep 20 of each thing."

Obsessive compulsive gaming disorder, I think its like doing mental defrag or playing solitaire or something.

Personally, I don't need nor want more chests, though I am a hoarder in the extreme.

What I need are more weapon racks, display cases, shield racks, and armor mannequins. I want to look at all the shiny trinkets which I obsess over. I need more book shelves too, as I'm trying to collect a copy of every book in the game, including spell tomes. The Markarth house so far is my favorite, but it still falls far short of what I need in a personal library and museum.

Ideally, I would have a room (basement probably) which was the side of the Dragonsreach dining hall that had all the walls covered in weapon and shield racks, with rows of armor mannequins standing watch like my own terracotta army of vanity.

Khajiit has over 500 bottles of different alcoholic beverages and a lot of moon sugar IF you have coin.

Is there an easy way to drop a single unit of something at a time? You know, like ctrl+click in Morrowind?

I would answer that I need more containers, but honestly only because they don't have a sorting function like the player character's inventory >.>

Is it bad that I spend less time killing draugr and such than I do telling Lydia or Jordis to pick up various items because their carry weight is around 800 lbs.? Is it bad that every chest in my homes take about a minute to load when I open them? Is it bad that I actually use the top of the Western Watchtower near Whiterun as a giant bookshelf? I think I might be a Skyrim hoarder... *Clicks option 1.*

I don't have much of a problem. The only things I keep en-masse are ingredients, soul gems, things of the like. My bookshelves get filled out with only books I find interesting. Most of the times, I just leave armor and arms behind.

I need more containers, located better for my house. I'm in Riften at the moment, and I like having containers to store appropriate types of materials: weapons, clothes, jewels, soul gems, smithing materials, alchemy ingredients, books, etc. The Riften house only has two containers near the Alchemy Lab and they are in a bedroom, and the Enchanting table has no containers.

I want a house with a forge, Alchemy lab, Enchanting table, Tanning rack, and Smelter so I can do all my tradeswork in one location!!!

Is there a weight or quantity limit for containers?

yes, i do. I can't sell certain quest rewards because it would feel wrong, like the axe of whiterun, so I end up carrying the around until I remember to store the somewhere. I always take scrolls and staves cause you never know when you might need something.

I pick up everything, it's so silly but I feel like I'm wasting loot if I leave anything better than Iron and Hide behind. The thing is that I sell most of it ASAP so I don't really need more containers.

Ditto, I especially want a [Expletive Deleted] honest-to-goodness LIBRARY that is more than just a couple of vaguely useable bookshelves in a house, usually scattered around so you have to go from room to room (I'm currently using the barrel under the stairs of Breezehome as a "Book Barrel"). Oh, and bring back desks and lecterns, I want some place decent to store my non-book literature. Add in a couple more safes as well (where else am I going to dump all that gold I keep picking up*, the end table next to the bed?). Of course, more alchemist satchels next to/near the alchemy station (along with decorative shelves for all those skulls, bones, and body parts the more necromantically inclined folks like to collect...though being able to collect mammoth, deer, cow, and other skulls lying around would be nice too) and soul gem containers near the enchanting altar would be nice too. That doesn't even mention getting a complete forge set (and materials containers) in one's house, so you don't have to traipse to the annoying local smithy while you're over-encumbered. And more gardens/fish ponds/apiaries for harvesting ingredients would be a nice touch. Of course, you'd need a bigger house (mansion/estate) for all that, but hey, what's wrong with that? (See also, the ability to buy a set of faction banners to decorate your home to your liking, maybe even a return of the stuffed monster displays from Battlehorn).

*
Spoiler:
Like the 350,000 septims I've got from mostly selling off all those gems after collecting the blasted Crown of Barenziah...I swear, I can't go into a single dungeon without picking up enough gems that even with the invest perk* and fully upgraded fences, I can't sell everything off easily without making a shopping spree around Skyrim.

*Yes, that includes the 10,000 gold upgrade from investing in Riverwood Traders.

I had a hoarding problem with sellable loots before I got a mod which significantly upped merchant gold. Now I just have a problem with hoarding every unique item, alchemical reagent, weapons/armor I MIGHT use later but always -- without exception -- never do...

I don't consider myself a "hoarder" per se, I play a Khajiit and have many nice things. I do keep flawless jewels, Skooma, and Moon Sugar for myself and I hold on to soul gems and un-enchanted items so I can enchant and sell later. I only have two weapons, an unenchanted Daedric bow, and another Bow with soul trap for 1 second and only two Armor suits, one dragon scale the other the thieves guild armor. Everything else I hoard to sell, but I only sell to Whiterun merchants or my fellow Khajiits so I tend to have a lot of stuff built up to sell.

In Oblivion I collected Necromancers Robes...Now I don't collect anything specific, but both my houses (Breezehome and Vindrel Hall) are strewn with bits and bobs from my adventuring...
