Okay, so we have a
Writer's Guild and a
post your neat stuff thread, but there isn't really a place for artists to gather here on the forums. And this is disappointing, because I know that you all exist out there but are sometimes pushed aside by the colossal amount of amazing writers around here; and, let us face it: the forums are a written media, and thus the talented writers shine, and shine well!
Well, look no further, artists with paints and markers, pencils and pens, mouses and digital tablets! Yes,
you - you who knows that your fingertips will get smudged, your paintbrushes lovingly stained, your sketchbooks filed and torn and filed again. Here we shall gather to encourage each other, share tips and tricks, and gawk at the beautiful creations we are all making in our spare time!
So come here, pull up a chair, pour yourself a spot of tea, have a cupcake, and show us your creations, oh artists of the forums.
For simplicity's sake, let us keep this in mind with posting:
- If you are using the IMG tag, please put your creations behind a spoiler tag.
- If you are linking to a site, please make sure you tell us the content of your artwork.
- Please keep in mind the rules of the forum. If your artwork might contain something potentially offensive, please give proper warning.
- Do not judge anyone else's talent poorly, for we are all of various skill levels, with no master present.
- If you ask for criticism on a piece, please respond maturely to constructive criticism. Likewise, if someone asks for it, please only give constructive criticism.
- All mediums are welcome, both traditional and digital!
- Without saying, of course, please post only your own works.
I'm actually working on a piece right now, so I shall post it later. But for the sake of starting us off with something, I shall shamelessly just repost something from the creative works sticky.

Cool idea! Your artwork is awesome, and I can't wait to see what else you and others post. I myself have nothing to contribute, unless I was to photograph some of the horrors I have thrown on the wheel in Pottery class. Well, I want to start drawing again, so maybe soon I'll have something.

I'll join in
Here's something I threw together as an experiment in technique and exploration of theme. I also did
30 days of fan art sketches in prelude to Skyrim, those are in the Elder Scrolls category in the blog. The rest of the blog has non-TES stuff, too.

Thanks for the good words, Powerflex! And always come and share, why not?
And Lady Nerevar, I really like your 30 days pieces. Those are insanely awesome! Day 14 made me chuckle.

I heartily agree with Avron's evaluation, Lady Nerevar. 'Mirror Logician' is simply captivating and your so-called sketches are of the greatest quality. I'd have to say that day 12's is my personal favorite.

Gorgeous work Nerevar! Avron, I really love your style - I'm feeling quite inspired to get cracking on some Skyrim fanart!
I don't currently have anything else fantasy/Skyrim related in my stash apart from the dragon. I'm working on some handpainted children's shoes and accessories for my etsy shop so all I've got at the moment are things like these pokemon shoes:

My artwork is more graphic design but that's what I'm good at. These designs are a year old and it's been quite hard to get back into doing design now I left university. I'm thinking about doing more computer illustrations based on game characters to get back into it.
These fonts that I designed based on shapes for my final project at uni.

I checked out all the art presented in this thread, and I stand in awe.

Please allow me to share some of my own modest art, which I make as a way to pass the time pleasantly.

I'd like to show two bits of my humorous fan art:

Oh man, everyone is so talented! I feel inspired already!
Elani, your stuff has this nice style to it...I like all of the color ones (one for orange, one for green, once for yellow - really neat!).
Nocturnal, that is awesome, too. Design is an important element of art, after all; I surely can't do it to save my life!
Norroen, I've been waiting for you to post in this thread since I started it! I'm so glad you finally came!
How do you guys like deviantART? I was thinking of signing up to put my art up, as currently it just sits unseen on my computer, but I don't have much experience with it. I'm not a serious artist so I'm not worried about that, but how easy is it to use?

Thank you, Avron! I came here as soon as saw the thread (which did not happen straight away, but still).
I think you really should create a DeviantArt account.
The interface is pretty convenient to use.

Avron, totally go for devart, it's really easy to use and you can be as casual or as professional with it as you choose. Mind you, I do find it aids in my general procrastination as I spend ages browsing other people's galleries and making "favourites" folders

I keep meaning to get a deviantART account myself as it might motivate me to do some actually art for once. Got all this ideas in my head but too lazy most days to get on with it

See, that is my problem, Nocturnal. I don't have a lot of free time, and while I was into art and took advanced classes in high school, when I went to university I stopped the hobby just to concentrate on my major. I've been able to ease back into it but I realize that I really, really have to be in a particular mood to complete anything at all.
And that is why I made this thread - in hopes to find a little extra motivation and hints somewhere!
I do notice that sometimes on deviantART they have these art challenge things, where there's square boxes that tell you to draw something or a kind of "30 days" project, like the one posted above. I wonder if something like that could get the muses turning?

That does sound like a good idea, I usually work better if there's a goal in mind
With me, it was the fact I did so much art and graphic stuff that when I finished my degree I needed a break and of course when you do that its hard to get back into the rhythm of things.

There are always a few art challenges floating about on Tumblr, this is one of the current ones:
I'd be up for it if anyone else wants to join in
Er...maybe I should rephrase that, sounds like a "That's what she said!" moment

Haha!
Actually, that could be fun. What if we tried something like that in this thread one month? Then we could have UESP join in with a new doodle every day!
And for actual doodle nonsense, since I'm moving, I found a few old sketchbooks. I opened it up to a random page and
this fellow is what I saw. Must have been when I was practicing expressions...and still not quite grasping hair!

I've always been fond of your drawings, Avron!
Looks like I dug up some old art too. I was in the process of getting the hang of Inkscape.
An illustration to Goethe's tragedy "Faust".
An illustration to Dombey and Son, by Charles Dickens.
An illustration to the "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" book by Ken Kesey.

I loooove Tumblr, but then again I'm sadly addicted to far too many sites...Pinterest, Tumblr, all that procrastinatey stuff. My Tumblr is an art blog, no written posts just images of artwork from various artists, all sorts of eras and media:

And I like the hair Avron, looks like my son's fringe this morning

Fan art for Skyrim.
My character (a male Dunmer) and Brelyna Maryon from the College of Winterhold.
With the use of lyrics from
Love Song for a Vampire by Eurhythmics.
Some warmth in Skyrim...
