Seriously, werevultures!

Why was my topic locked? This is a valid issue, and as far as I know there are no forum rules against discussing werevultures.
As I said, I've been looking for werevultures. They are in Tamriel, as evidenced in
this book.
In the end, I regret that my trip to Skyrim did not prove more productive. If it is indeed true that their breeds of lycanthropes are distinct from and more powerful than our local ones, they could prove to be powerful allies in our conflict against the influx of werevultures in Valenwood. If they have grown as great and terrible as my friend Gaelian asserts, they could soon threaten the interior of Tamriel. When the summer next crests, I plan to travel there for a better accounting of the winged cretins, so that I may make more fitting report to the council.
So naturally, I went down to Valenwood to have a look:
Here I am, in Valenwood, just south of Skingard by the Strid River. As you can see, there are no trees, no animals... and no werevultures. I've explored further, and still nothing; the land is barren and largely werevulture free everywhere I look.
So where could they be? Has anyone found a werevulture yet? Should they be released as DLC? I want to be a werevulture!

Moved to a more appropriate section and unlocked. Now discuss this creature of lore!

There are said to be Werelions in Cyrodiil...back when it was considered more jungle than urban park
There were said to be werecrocodiles in southern Morrowind, but not in Tribunal.
But trying to find werevultures in Skyrim is like looking for Crossbows in Oblivion, even if there's land over there, it still isn't going to happen.

Well, werelions were most likely hunted to extinction. The loss of their jungle habitat probably helped do 'em in. And werecrocodiles? Well, I'd be surprised if many of them survived the Red Year and the Argonian Invasion. As for crossbows, they clearly went out of style in the short years between Morrowind and Oblivion, along with Colovian hats.
But werevultures are a recent and pressing danger. I'm very disappointed that I haven't found any.

Last time I checked the Red Year didn't happen during the events of Morrowind
Crossbows were barely in style in Morrowind, but you still found them in Dwemer ruins.
There were also plenty of rumors of potential danger in Oblivion that never fleshed out, you'll just have to wait for TES Valenwood to be disappointed

True, but the werecrocodiles spent the year or two during Morrowind's timeframe hibernating. I'm explaining why they can't be found NOW (and they can't; I've been to Morrowind too, and it's just as empty as Valenwood)
You know what I'd like to see? Two province DLCs for Skyrim. Valenwood/ Eslweyr, with werevultures, Morrowind/ Black Marsh, where you can embroil yourself in the post-Argonian conquest conflicts, and High Rock/ Hammerfell, where you can get Skyrim and Hammerfell to help High Rock secede from the Empire.

Werevultures stole my life savings, and killed my Shield-Brother! Why isn't anyone stopping this menace?

I always wondered about the wereboars in Daggerfall--do they not migrate? I guess the lycanthropes are as regional as the vampires in Tamriel.

I was reading about them in the lore section today. Seriusly, i want to be a wereshark. No werecrockodiles tho, I could jsut be an argonian.
But a werevulture, that sounds [&@%!] painfull to turn into.

Did you just disable the boundaries to go into Valenwood and Morrowind?
Actually, I'm curious what would happen if you went too far past the boundaries.

Firstly, Valenwood is not part of Skyrim, so there's no content there, which is why you can't find Werevultures, or anything aside from roughly generated terrain. Secondly, the problem with Werevultures in-game would be that of flying. Because Bethesda uses closed cities, I doubt they'll be implementing flight any time soon in Skyrim, or other games.

That's because the werevultures won and killed everyone and everything outside of Skyrim. Plus, they're invisible. And taking a really long nap after having eaten everyone.
That's the price for being too slow and not saving the world in time. What was wrong with you? Arrow stuck in your knee?

I still resent Bethesda for going all Middle Ages Europe -influenced High Fantasy on us when fleshing out Cyrodiil. Considering that the narrow Bravil-Leyawiin strip of Cyrodiil is landlocked east and west by Black Marsh and Elsweyr, they could've at least given us proper (sub)tropical jungles in that area. But no.
I'd always imagined Cyrodiil as subtropical, with the Bravil, Leyawiin area resemblinbg more Black Marsh. But then Bethesda went middle of the road.
But then again, TES geography has never made that much sense. I mean, Skyrim is mostly arctic, but northern Morrowind isn't? Oh well, maybe I'm overthinking it.

I don't know, I've never been to northern mainland Morrowind. (Have I? Pretty sure not.) TES III took place on an island, so...that doesn't count, right? Then again, Bruma in Cyrodiil is all wintery and arctic, and yet...I always imagined they would have some seasons. It can't be that far north. Right?
Although I wonder how far the real world distances are. There's been lots of discussions about this but I always wonder. The biospheres wouldn't make much more sense then, but...you know.

Volcanic activity screws up the climate...isn't Firewatch a snowy area?

Maybe Vvardenfell vs. Skyrim was a bad example. How about this? High Rock is almost entirely as far north as Skyrim is, yet from what we know it resembles Cyrodiil, especially in the way it was represented to us in TES IV - classic "European Middle Ages" High Fantasy. Yet go that far up north in Skyrim and the hairs on your nuts will freeze solid as soon as you pass the first mountains north of Whiterun. And given that Whiterun hold is predominantly arctic tundra, it's probably not too cozy there either.
Of course one could argue that High Rock is kept warmer by ocean currents. But what about Hammerfell? An arid desert province south of High Rock _and_ west-northwest of Cyrodiil? Maybe they just don't have any water. At all. Personally, I think it's a stretch of the imagination.
And finally, Elsweyr. Either they ran out of humidity too, or there's a really narrow and accurate desertification-causing wind or sea current from the southern ocean. You know, pinpoint enough to leave Valenwood and Blackwood lush and jungle-y.
I know, I'm overthinking it. But the way I see it, either Beth simply doesn't care, or the map of Tamriel we are offered is waaaaay scaled down. I could get those inconsistencies if the continent was large enough to "stretch" around the planet enough to cause such drastic climate changes between adjacent provinces.

You know, the funkiest thing about the Atacama Desert of Chile is that it's right next to the Pacific Ocean. Furthering that, the Amazon Basin isn't all that far way.

I'd wager that the fact that the largest mountain range in the western hemisphere is what's separating them from each other has something to do with it. Or maybe I'm just making excuses.

This is what happens: The warm winds coming from the south to Skyrim are blocked by the Jearl Mountains and stay with in the imperial province. This is possible because I live in Lima Peru: a very dry area located a few miles west of a massive mountain body (the Andes).
The Andes and the Jearl mountains block the warm and humid winds making them stay in the imperial province (or in my case the Amazon).
This means places that are sourrounded with tall mountains (like Skyrim) dont have acces to warmer humid winds and other place which are lower (Highrock and Vvandefall) get more warm winds than Skyrim. This is why Skyrims whether is artic like: No southern warm winds.
And on the Werevulture topic: I dont think Bethesda is going to implement them because of the cities separate cells. Lore-wise maybe the drangons killed them because they were occupying the air space.

No, of course they wouldn't include werevultures in the game, they didn't add much else beyond the borders of Skyrim.
Werevultures are in the lore if you even bothered to search it up.

Hmm, can you become a werevulture?
Oh, wait! Hargravens! (Seriously, I'm not being sarcastic.) They're witches who turned part-bird through black magic. Maybe they migrated north because the Thalmor are so repulsive.
