The usual A/D buttons used for lockpicking do nothing! all of a sudden? What is going on here?

Did you try exiting and re-entering? I often have to do that to get stuff working right again -- in my case, hideous graphics glitches from frequent alt-tabbing.

If that doesn't work, try re-assigning the buttons if you can?

I did all of that. Nothing works. rebooting system now.

Did you download the 1.2 patch?

Where is it? btw I thought steam installed that automatically a bit ago. o.o

Also the R button that normally allows me to "take all" from a dead foe's body is now Q. and I changed no settings.. wtf

It would be nice if anyone else on pc could test if he still can open locks.
I'm kinda hoping this is a 1.2 patch glitch that's not just affecting me.

I thought 1.2 had only come out for consoles? Did it already hit PCs?

Sorry to disappoint you, Weasel, but I'm still able to open locks just fine.

Yup, and it broke the game. Horray!

currently testing if starting with another race makes it happen.
btw is there anyway to skip past the opening cinematic/ride to helgen?

What I know so far:

Normally when you press R to get the sutff from a dead foe. Well now mine is set to Q. Wich I did not change myself.
The lock can still not be moved, with any key. I tried them all.
Everything else behaves normally.

At this point I don't know if the game changed version, got patched or anything. I'm totally flabbergasted..
What should I do?

From what I can tell, this 1.2 patch is causing at least minor problems for just about everyone, but it's hitting some much harder than others.

Create a save when the Imperials are calling out names for execution.

I am seriously getting disgusted with Bethesda. I hear about all these issues people are having, and I am slowly loosing faith in Bethesda. I understand the game's scale is bound to create some glitches and faults, but this is beyond ridiculous. The patch was supposed to fix problems, not create them. But you know what they say ... When one glitch is fixed, two more appear.

Herp the patch is out on all versions now.

And yes, it breaks lock picking for some people.

The thread covers all patches for all versions, including both consoles and the PC, as Spiney said. You have to read the thread to get into that. Always read all the threads or at least skim them beyond the first post.

Also, I seem to have forgotten to lock this. Please go to the patch thread, and PM me if you've any serious objections so I might unlock it.
