It has been great. I've played for 48 hours. I'm archmage and everything. I have all the ultimate spells like lightning storm firestorm mass paralysis. Thing is now It's getting pretty boring. Mostly because Bethesda made all the ultimate spells have like a 8 second cast time. It makes combat pretty boring and monotonous. No offense to Bethesda. This is the greatest game I have ever played. So I've been thinking. I want to make a dual wielding berserker wherewolf nord. Make him the leader of the companions. Thing is I feel like he's not going to be as fun and powerful as my mage(Pre ultimate spells) So has anyone made a dual wielding warrior is it fun? Or shouls I just make a battlemage? Thanks guys.

I can't speak completely for Dual-Wielding, as I think I only got to level five or so before I went back to my Two-Handed character. Not because of any lack of performance (getting to that) but just because I'm saving that play-style for later.
My preliminary experience was that, although I find the animations really ugly, the build performs well enough. Not having access to Bash can be scary, which is why I would suggest trying the style with an Orc first (in fact I think they're made for it). Whether or not it will as fun as being a mage is tough to say. Frankly, you'll be launching dual attack, dual power attack, dual attack, rather than casting a dazzling assortment of Spells. If, however, you find the thrill of close combat (and because of a lack of any kind of blocking, relatively dangerous combat) appealing, you should enjoy yourself. If you don't, I can say that it won't be because dual-wielding is underpowered, at least, from my (small) experience with it.

I found dual wield to be really stale, its just "hold down both buttons and hope you kill before you die", I really enjoyed shield and weapon combat, the technique required is fun, though the "time slows down during power attack" perk is a complete waste, it doesnt slow down at all

Oh yes it does, and gives you great opportunity for counter-strike. What you do is to raise your shield, and wait your opponent to try to break your shielding with power attack (of course there are enemies that spam them, like those forsworn dual-wielding warriors, so you only need to raise your shield). When it/s/he then makes the power attack, the time slows down and gives you an opportunity to do what you want.

Dual-Wielding

Any style of combat that completely negates the ability to block, seems flawed to me.

OP

I'd suggest building a Heavy Armour and Shield using character, but with no weapon, just magic in your main hand. Works nicely. Heavy defensive mage, Breton might be a good race choice.

Yeah I use it to sidestep his swing and then power attack from the side.
