First Companions "Mission" - Spoilers?

First post! I have been reading the UESP forums for quite some time, and have been playing since Morrowind.

Anyhow, I just wanted to inject a bit of Elder Scrolls humor here. I know the Companions aren't really the fighter's guild per say, but was anyone surprised when they joined that the first mission was not "go here and kill / protect these skeevers (rats)?" The new initiation is more in tone with the feel of the companions, but that was definitely the first thing that went through my head, haha!

First off mate, welcome to the forums!

I agree, there seems to be more of a 'hit the ground running' feel to skyrim. So far I've joined the companions, the stormcloaks and done a few of the main quests (the voice ones) and they all seem pretty willing to let me go out and 'play with the big boys' without asking me to fetch a book first, or kill a couple mud crabs etc.

But then again when some hard looking git comes strolling in with the ability to mess people up with his voice alone, you're going to want him in the front line, not in the galley bashing rats.
