I've noticed that the guards in Skyrim don’t give out directions to locations in their city which is pretty annoying. In Oblivion they were practically mobile, armoured information kiosks and could tell you exactly the location of the inn, the guild halls, the keep and all other things you might want to know. I haven't travelled to all of the Holds so this might not be the case throughout the entire province but does anyone else agree?

Whenever I find a new town I'm usually straining under the weight of a whole load of saleable stuff, so my priority is usually to find a general store. It would be good if guards would at least give you a name of the store or confirm if there was one. But it would be even better if they could tell you and put a custom marker on your map by doing so.
