My favorite place so far is definitely Whiterun...I like how closely it resembles Edoras (LotR) and I'm a big fan of the Companions so far.
Spoiler:
Werewolves FTW

High Hrothgar is amazing, and Solitude is simply awesome. Windhelm is a pretty cool city too.

So far for me the best place i've seen is Bleak Falls Barrow. It is massive and beautiful. Haven't been to any cities yet, only the town of Riverwood. Im going to try to make it to the College of Winterhold next.

the area around river wood. I've been all over, but I still love it whenever I come back.

Some description of why those are your favourite places might be a nice idea guys

For me, I haven't decided yet, as I haven't been everywhere yet only having limited play-time so far. But I do love Dragonsreach up in Whiterun. It just looks so majestic, and it does have a nice LotR's feel to it. I especially have liked the concept art of it that we've seen. It just fits the build of Skyrim in my eyes. The perfect Nordic settlement.

Markarth, for sure. I love the waterfall and the beautiful architecture. The tall rooftops and the workers down by the river. I also love the front of the town, with the market.
