Save looks?

I will be spending hours on my main characters looks, say I get him to level 5 or something before realizing I don't like his perk build, or something like that, would it be possible to start over from level one and just load his "look" into the character creator?

Or you could just save right after the starting tutorial.

On your first playthrough you should probably just play through as best you can. If things get difficult, restart the character. Perfecting perks and such is something you should do after completing the game and getting your head around its mechanics.

Create a save at level one. That's the only way. You can't rearrange your perk points.

Yeah, definitely make the save early on.. I bet you could actually make it as soon as you have control over your character during the tutorial. Probably the best spot for it, too, in case any choices are made later on during the tut (I already know the answer to this) that way you can start fresh each time. :)

Probably too obvious but I'll throw it out there -

On the PC version there's sure to be a console command that allows you to bring the character creation dialogs back up, just as there was in Morrowind and Oblivion.

On Console that won't apply - though in Fallout 3 we had plastic surgeon Pinkerton and your Mr Handy could modify your hairstyle, so there's always hope that there will be similar NPCs in Skyrim even if they're not accessible until a certain quest is complete (as is the case in Fallout 3).

Outside that, much of your appearance in this game is hidden by armor and helmets, so it's only a real concern if you do a lot of third-person activities in light/little armor as most players will barely see their character at all and when they do he/she will more than likely be wearing a full-head helmet :)

EDIT: Just read this thread again, completely misinterpreted the OP - nevermind :D

To answer your question, saving your appearance should be the same as it was in Oblivion & Morrowind - just save right at the end of the tutorial dungeon. Get as many level-ups as you can at that point but don't spend the points until after you've saved, backed up the save and have entered the main game. By reloading that 'starter save' you won't have to keep remaking your character each time, since class is now governed by perks chosen it's basically the same thing as went before.

Elder Scrolls games don't typically contain any major decisions before the end of the tutorial dungeon - which is why the end of the tutorial could be a good spot. There is a possibility that there is one decision made at that point concerning the warring faction your character will eventually go on to join later in the game, but that's beyond a certainty at this point and much is yet to be understood about that section of the game.

Saving at the end of the tutorial does what it says - allows you to jump right into the game without having to go through all of the game's opening again (learning the basics and such). Obviously the earlier you save, the safer you are from being stuck with already having made a decision you might later decide to change.

What I'd do is make a save at the first opportunity after making your character. Run through the tutorial, then make another save here. Back both these saves up, then you have the freedom to change any choices made in the opening if they end up being of significance later on. Otherwise, just use the second save to return to a 'perkless' character :)
