it said: Master of the Mind|90|Illusion spells work on undead, daedra and automatons.

but what are 'automatons'? like robots?

Very likely, Skyrim is supposed to have Dwemer ruins like those in Morrowind the key feature of which was robotic enemies.

or have them as a companion?
from all the non leak footage i've seen so far, they don't do anything. (i always thought those were golden statues the dwarven centurions look awesome though.)

You've obviously never fought an Advanced Steam Centurion.

Command with Illusion spells, yes.

There's some ingame footage of a Centurion at 0:55. Just imagine having one of those at your command. Epic.

they are not in OB and in daggerfall i never got past the starter dungeon.

All of the Dwemer Creations come from Redguard and Morrowind, none were in Daggerfall. While there was the orrery in Oblivion, that was DLC.

They are quite fearsome

They're in the Tribunal expansion for Morrowind.

Yeah, you can do it the other way too, but isn't it more fun to use the scholarly version?

I'm wondering now, if the automatons are a sign there may be a third Numidium hidden in Skyrim somewhere?
