Load damn you...

Anyone having problems connecting to this joint? for the last month I have had trouble connecting at all, it just keeps telling me the forum failed to load. Now obviously this isn't every minute of every day, as I wouldn't be able to post on here, but it sometimes does it for hours.

I have not seen anyone post anything about this recently, so I'm wondering if it's just on my end. I would think it's just the increased traffic.. but then how come its only me? ridiculous I say.

Just so you know there is nothing wrong with my connection, it's the best of the best and like any intelligent being I do try and connect to other websites when this one throws a wobbly. It is only ever this site that plays up.

Only in the mornings for me, usually on Sundays around 0500-0600. Ocassionally it may do this on other days, but not that much. For me it is usually on Sundays, which from what I have read, is when they do server updates/work.

I noticed that Dave did an update post on the wiki a second ago, that might be why this time.

I don't think it has anything to do with that, It just cut out again for around an hour. Driving me barmy this is. I don't see any pattern at all to the times it cuts out, one minute it will work and the next it will throw it back in my face.

I get it at the same time every night just about, so it's something someone's doing I would think.

Hold on. We had this before and it was determined it was probably a problem with the SQL server. I'll bring this to Ratwar and daveh's attention again. Uploads or overwhelming traffic notwithstanding, this should be fairly fixable.

...And most of last night. Odd. Check the wiki, it doesn't link to the forum anymore.

For those that can't access the wiki atm:
DaveH wrote: The files1 server suddenly went offline around 12:30 EST last night and dragged the rest of the site down with it. I've restored basic site usage for now and am looking into restoring files1 (likely a hardware failure of the RAID controller or both drives). Site will be much slower than usual, especially for logged in users, until files1 is restored. File uploads are also temporarily disabled and you will experience login/out issues when using www (you can use content1 directly to avoid if desired). There are other issues as well, like the sidebar for logged in users, likely due to various cache update issues. -- Daveh 15:00, 5 November 2011 (UTC)

Yesterday, the Forum and Wiki went down from about after lunchtime until after I went to bed

I gathered thisr:
ERROR

While trying to retrieve the URL: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Special:RecentChanges

The following error was encountered:

Unable to forward this request at this time.
This request could not be forwarded to the origin server or to any parent caches. The most likely cause for this error is that:

mxk101 answered it in the above post. All of the problems should be sorted out now.

I've read through the Admin Noticeboard, but is it know if this is at all related to the 'session lost' problems some people have been experiencing lately. I keep getting logged out while editing, it's been happening for a couple of weeks now, as you might have been able to guess from the recent changes.

That's what is supposed to happen, but this has been when I've been active editiing, previewing edits and double checking other pages, not when I've just had the page open for a while doing nothing. It's odd, but I think it's a caching issue.

That should be fixed as well. It was an unrelated problem to the crash though. Dave said that if you are still getting it, you should let him know (from the community portal topic). For the record, I haven't gotten it since he said he fixed it, so I'm willing to take his word on the issue.

Okay, will do, I was just wondering if the issues were somehow related. I'll raise it there if it continues to occur. Thanks.

Did the UESP just die again for anyone else? I experienced the same errors as last time, but only for a couple of minutes. Same message while trying to access the Wiki, same unresponsiveness from the Forums.

The Wiki is working fine for me, but the forums were inaccessible for a few minutes. It's lagging a little right now, particularly with images/avatars.

We already really have a thread discussing issues like this, so let me merge it.

I don't know what is happening, but it has happened in the past and I have made a note of it. I did forward a request to Ratwar to bring this to DaveH's attention so they can look into it, so let's see if it can't be fixed. In the meantime please be patient. The website does go down for brief periods of time and it is a known issue, so unless you have something important to contribute that might help (specific time or an error message), please don't add to the list of "Me too!" posts here.

I think Daveh’s onto it, at least it seems to have been resolved at my end and he has posted about it on the Wiki. Plus, the caching issues I was having before causing me to loose session data and be logged out on the Wiki, have been solved (or so it seems) I replied on the Wiki discussion too.
