My horse won't heal.

Hello there!

I've started new game in Oblivion and i've run into a problem. In this new game i wont use fast travel so that means i have to have a horse. Since i was near imperial city i went to the stables and got Old Nag with my horse armor DLC. After some travelling i ran into some bandits who did a lot of damage to my poor horse and now he is pretty badly hurt. If i wait, sleep - no matter how long the horse's health won't regenerate. Why?

Thanks!

Use a Touch spell that heals, easy-peasy.

Do you have any mods installed?

I would try to mount it and fast travel, then wait/rest some time.

The Wiki Horses page has this to say about horsie health:

"Horses will heal slowly over time (resting or waiting for an hour will always heal your horse). You can heal your horse more quickly with Restore Health effects."

Perhaps the DLC horse doesn't follow the same rules. Or maybe you got zapped by some Absorb Health spells while you were on the horse.

Save a NEW savegame, exit Oblivion, re-run and reload from that savegame. Odd glitches crop up occasionally, due to the game losing track of pointers to its "world" data in memory. Yeah, it's still full of bugs. Exiting and re-running typically clears glitches by forcing the game to rebuild ALL data in memory from scratch.

I've had a similar thing before with an enemy NPC who was "immortal" (couldn't be hurt). One exit & re-run later and he was "mortal" again. So I, er, mortally wounded him. Revenge is sweet!

Sorry for late reply.

Since im doing little roleplaying approach while playing oblivion my timescale is 1. I am wondering if this is the source of the problem?

And i tired to save and reload etc, nothing seemed to help.

Only mods that im using are unofficial patches and alternate start with boat

Edit: Well, i guess i found solution for the problem. I traveled to Cheydinhal and bought Convalescence skill witch allows me to heal on touch.

Sorry to necro this thread, but I have exactly the same problem. I've been using Prior Maborel's paint horse since early on. A couple days ago the horse got in a fight with a timber wolf and offed it (with a little help from me). It took a lot of damage in the process -- I noticed it was at less than half strength. I took it to a stable and left it for a day, and no healing. Tried many things -- save and reload. Fast travel. My theory is that the horse got a disease from one of the many wolf bites, or a poisoning from one of the many random whacks by bandits. And the response of the horse to the disease/poisoning is to stop healing.

Since the wiki talks about getting an Akatosh wayshrine speed blessing on your horse, I thought that I'd try to see if you can get an instant cure for horse poisoning/diseases/wounds at any old wayshrine. I just tried a Julianos wayshrine.

I got the horse with all four hooves on top of the altar. Got off the horse and the altar. Activated the altar -- and the blessing hit ME.

Does it only work with Akatosh wayshrines? Or did I do it wrong?

EDIT: After reading the wiki again, I took the horse to a second wayshrine (Stendarr), and got the horse on the altar. After a few experimental tries (saving and reloading on failures), I got the horse between me and the center of the wayshrine (with me still on top of the altar too), and activated the wayshrine. It hit the horse, and this paint horse now moves at 200 mph. Please remember this was a Stendarr wayshrine. I suspect that horses get the same speed blessing at all wayshrines.

I'm not sure if this can cure a horse disease/poisoning/wounding yet, though.

(But it sure did get me to Anvil in record time. It's necessary to "walk" the horse at only 60 mph over any hilly terrain to avoid "jumping damage". Combined with water walking, the lake would make a lovely 200mph galloping flat highway!)

Edit: Tried a Dibella shrine. Yes, all wayshrines give the same speed bonus to a horse. Yes, the horses get completely healed too. When they get completely healed, their "health bar" goes away in all the displays, so it's a little hard to notice.
