Where's my horse?

So, I recently completed the KotN questline, and I can't seem to find my horse. It's not where I left it, and fast-traveling (which usually transports the horse to wherever I am) doesn't work. If it matters, I was using the paint horse you get from the one guy at Weynon Priory. Worst comes to worst, I can just buy another horse, but I'd like to try and get this one back first. Any help is appreciated.

She should go back to Cloud Ruler Temple. Check there, if she's not, try Weynon Priory.

Thanks for the quick response. I'll give that a try and get back to you.
EDIT: Yep, found the horse at Weynon Priory. Oddly enough, there was a brown Weynon Priory horse at Cloud Ruler Temple that I could've taken if I didn't find the paint one. The horseshoe was white rather than red. Thanks again for the help.

Normally, if you can't find your horse, it returned to the place you found it.

A tip for those who use Horses (or even Followers):
You are the only one that fast travels. The game has the Horses, and NPC actually travel from point A to point B. This means that they will encounter any Hostiles/Enemy that are along that route.
Hostiles/Enemy/Creatures, are only present when you, the player character enter a cell. If you do not enter a cell, then that cell stays empty. This is why, in most cases, you do not have issues with your Horse, or Followers, and they can travel safely.
- If you have traveled that route before, and killed everything in those cells, the Horse, or folower will be safe.
- If you have not been there in over 72 hours, the cell will (normally) reset, and your Horse, or follower will be safe.
- However, if you have traveled thru a cell, and not encountered, or killed the enemy, they will still be there, and your horse, or followers could encounter them.
This is why it is best if you have a horse or follower, to not fast travel all of the time. It increases your chance of losing them.
- - - - - - - - - - -
Another Problem can occur, if you are fast traveling from place to place, quicker than the horse or follower can keep up. You can go from point A, to point B, then to point C, quicker than they can get to point B (depending on how high your speed and athletics are). Then when you get to point D and point E. They are basically going around in circles, trying to find you.

The UESP Wiki "Fast Travel" summary is found
HERE. The page contains this paragraph:
"Using Fast Travel while on foot can cause your horse to wander off from it's last known position, if you use it too many times without being mounted. Your horse will attempt to make it's way (very slowly) back to the stable where you'd acquired it. To avoid this from happening, never fast travel more than 2 or 3 times without locating your horse and mounting up first. When you fast travel to the gate of a city or town, the horse will be moved to the stables nearby. After conducting you business in the city, you can then fast travel to the city stables and your horse will be waiting there for you. If you wish to travel on foot for a while and don't want your horse to wander off, leave it at the stable where you'd acquired it then set out on foot."
Hope this helps, and the
Discussion tab also contains a bit of interesting reading.

This particular horse is property of the Blades. If you agreed to join them, the horse became your property along with anything else owned by the Blades.
Incidentally, if you join the Blades, anything in Weynon Priory becomes yours.

Nice link.
This is another good point:
The estimate is based on the speed of your horse only if you are mounted at the time - merely owning a horse is not enough.
If you mount your horse for fast travel, then it is not going to get lost on you either. Then you can leave it at the City Stables.
If you fast travel to a dungeon, then be sure to check the area and kill any creatures that may have shown up, so your horse doesn't get killed, or chased off/lost.

I seldom use horses, but when I do, I never fast-travel into a potentially hostile environment with it. I'll fast-travel to a horse-friendly safe zone that's closest to my intended destination, be it city stables or an Inn, and then proceed the rest of the way on foot.

I do this as well. On a somewhat related note, my horse had been fast-traveling with me even when I wasn't mounted prior to completing KotN; I think my "death" at the end of it caused the horse's behavior to reset or something. In any case, I found him, but I decided to purchase a white horse from Leyawiin anyway. I felt a white horse was more fitting than a paint for my character. Not to mention how much faster it is.

Ya, just fast-travel to the nearest location with a stable(city etc) and check the stables

Or just fast-travel anywhere, and the horse should be with you, if not its most likely dead..
