A reflection.

This is just out of curiousity.
We have about one month until Skyrim comes out.
So this is what I want to know.
When you first heard about Skyrim, what was your first reaction?
When did you find out?
How has the wait been for you?
Did Skyrim change anything in your life?
In a sense, did it make you more into Elder Scrolls?
Did you drag your friends into the series?
What does Skyrim mean to you?
I just want a reflection on now, and since you first knew about Skyrim.
I'm really interested.

My literal reaction was: O.O
O.O
O.O
O.O
No
Way
No
****ing
Way
...
...
...
...
-bloodcurdling scream of triumph-
And I found out...here, I think...not on the forums, cuz I didn't join these until a month or two later, but on uesp...either that or youtube. It was that promo trailer. And then I watched Spike VGA.
How it changed my life....my mother and my sister hate me more. Mostly because every five seconds, the word Skyrim in some fashion or another is uttered by me. I'm slowly converting my sister tho. >:D I tried with Oblivion, but I panicked whenever she did something and she didn't like the tutorial, so....nah.
It made me love Elder Scrolls more, yes, because who couldn't love the addition of dragons! I loved ES before, but there's something about moneths of anticipation that spices things up.
I'd have dragged a friend in, but she has neither an xbox 360 nor a decent pc. She'll just have to come visit me lots >:3
If they delay Skyrim...well...>=}

I knew skyrim was coming back in 2008 when I heard they copyrighted the name, but as soon as I saw the trailer, I think i cried out of happiness.
The wait has been long, painful and hard. This month will be the hardest.

I was watching the VGAs on Spike. I was getting ready to change the channel, as the night had been rather stale. I will always remember my reaction as I finished the trailer, I leapt out of my recliner and smacked my head off of the ceiling. Houses aren't designed for excited people that are 6'3.

When I first heard the name I had two thoughts: 1) YESSSSS!!!! Another TES title!!!! and 2) awww, I was hoping it was set in one of the southern provinces
I really didn't get interested until they started showing the demos, then I squee'd

Like the Edgy Redguard, I just happened to be watching the VGA awards, for some unknown reason, because I never watch it. When Todd Howard came out with the stage full of Monks(?), and told of the upcoming Skyrim game, I literally flipped! I thought it may have been dead in the water. I was very happy that day!

Oh,
that place.
When did you find out?
...When it was announced
How has the wait been for you?
I've been thinking whether or not I should buy a fourth sword for myself. There's this leaf-bladed job I've been eyeing of late, you see.

Same here. Heard a rumour pretty early on about Skyrim being copyrighted. Knew it was in the making. Has been way to long a wait. But not long to go now.
Lucky for all the crap that filled the gap.

I saw the words: New Elder Scrolls.
I stared at the computer screen. Still staring. Then I yelled, "OH MY GOD NEW ELDER SCROLLS IS COMING OUT OH MY GOD OH MY GOD." Causing surrounding people to scream at me to shut up.

When you first heard about Skyrim, what was your first reaction? I was in my basement, watching the VGAs with my best friend. When the priests and the fog started up, my friend said something like, "Probably Dragon Age 3 or something." (He's not a Dragon Age fan.) "A new game from Bethesda Game Studios..." The announcer said. "What?!?" I exclaimed. "You don't think it could be..." DUNN. DUN-DUNN. DUNN DUN-DUNN. When I heard the Morrowind-esque drumbeats, I knew. "Holy sh*t. Holy sh*t ohmigod it's the Elder Scrolls V!!!" I said breathlessly." My friend, who likewise put a ridiculous portion of life into Oblivion, stood speechless. "You should have acted." Dead silence in the basement of my house. "They were already here." We exchanged glances. "The Elder Scrolls told of their return..." Me and my friend both exploded into cheers and exclamations, along the lines of "Ohmy god ohmy god, it's here..." By the time the epic music escalated to the title reveal, me and him were both standing on the couch, hands on our mouths. "Skyrim." I had whispered. "11 11 11..." He agreed numbly.
How has the wait been for you? Well, 'bout a month after that, I joined the forum. So, it's been among the better years of my life.
In a sense, did I make you love more into Elder Scrolls? ?
Did you drag your friends into the series? Yup. I was dragged in by one friend (that same one at the VGAs, but I became an Elder Scrolls geek while he remained a passive, if enthusiastic, fan.) I dragged in two friends.
What does Skyrim mean to you? About 500 hours of gloriously wasted time.

I found out on the forums. I was in the general discussion thread, and someone posted a link. I watched the video, and I just couldn't stop smiling.
The wait has been hard sometimes, to the point where I spazz out over thinking about it, and other times where I'm just waiting patiently.

I think I must have found out over the forums as well. I started to get back into Oblivion a little bit and checked back in on the forums and saw the rumors and such about Skyrim. Then when it was announced, I found out about it here.
I honestly have been okay with the wait. I've been excited sure, but I've never screamed at a trailer or preview. None of my friends are big ES fans so there hasn't been much to talk about with them. It's just been a patient wait.

To be honest, I was expecting Fallout 4 to be announced as Bethesda worked on Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas twice in a row. I went onto the Bethesda site to see and I saw "Skyrim".
Heart skipping, I quickly caught up with every juicy tidbits possible.
As for Fallout 4? Eh, it can wait.

I was surprised and a bit disappointed that the next game was taking place in Skyrim. The idea of Summerset Isles had grown on me. I was also incredibly impatient for its release, as the teaser trailer was released a long time before 11-11-11 (around January, was it?). But the music and the voice-over were epic, and I was hyped up immediately.

I have no idea why I'm so excited for this game...But it just sounds perfect in every way, heh. The waiting has been horrible times infinity. I feel like a kid before christmas.

I found out here, probably almost a year ago now. I can't remember what I thought of it, probably because I passed out and hit my head against the floor or something.
Since then, however, I've been searching these forums every single day for the tiniest bits of new information. I've become sort of obsessed. The wait has been hell. This last month will hell x 10.
I. Can't. Wait.

I didn't watch the VGA's because my cable was down. I figured that if something great happened one of my friends would tell me on Skype after. I go on skype and my friend who is also a giant ES fan sent me the link to the video.
I watched. Couldn't stop shaking from excitement for the next hour.
Literally one of the happiest days of my life.

When you first heard about Skyrim, what was your first reaction?
I didn't think much of it, then eventually my friend showed me a video from E3 and I thought it looked really cool. I started Oblivion and got sucked into it, and now I'm so excited for Skyrim.
When did you find out?
During E3
How has the wait been for you?
I am so excited for it, that I've had a few dreams that I'm playing Skyrim (and a couple about AC: Revelations).
Did Skyrim change anything in your life?
It will once I get it and I don't talk to anyone.
In a sense, did it make you more into Elder Scrolls?
Hell yeah
Did you drag your friends into the series?
Not really, but my sister (17 yrs old) saw me playing Oblivion and started playing it. It's really frustrating for me as an expierenced player watching a noob play and she's almost constantly asking me where to go and I repeatedly tell her to look at the [&@%!] marker.
What does Skyrim mean to you?
It means everything.

I heard about Skyrim the day after it was announced in December, iirc, while searching the recent Elder Scrolls news on google. At first I was a bit disappointed it was to be set in Skyrim, as I would have preferred Summerset, Valenwood, Elsweyr, Black Marsh or Morrowind, but at the same time I was glad to finally here news of TESV, after a long period of silence on the subject. I was also anticipating that the setting would be Skyrim, so that softened the blow a little, so to speak. As I knew from the April Fool's joke that it could not be Summerset, and I had been following news of the copyrighting of a Skyrim linked web address/IP (can't quite recall actually).
Edit: Surprised to see that my account is very similar to Legoless'. Glad I'm not the only one who was a little let down by the fact Skyrim is, Skyrim.
Still waiting eagerly for the game though.
