Yes they were. I was intensely impressed with the way Malacath was handled. On a more game note looks like the Argonians don't have any interest in wholly conquering Morrowind. No offense to any Dunmer lovers out there (I like them myself) but kudos to the Argonians for rising up against injustice at the hands of the Dark elves while keeping the Empire at bay; preventing them from recapturing territories in Morrowind.

This is a good thing for the Argonians. I wonder if they will expand their empire out of Black Marsh.

After reading the first 50 pages, my ordered version of the book will come at the end of the week, I doubt that the argonians can invade any region after the books events. Lilmoth is destroyed and Umbriel made a "cut" from there to vardenfell. Fully through Blackmarsh, everything beneath the flying city is now dead and
Spoiler:
as Gideon and Stormhold also were overrun by the undead, umbriel must have brought certain destruction to Blackmarsh
I would say this could be the part that restores the "original order" as blackmarsh seems crippled by now.
But the last 5 pages of the preview support one of my old odder theories^^
Spoiler:
certainly the hist and the trees on umbriel share a connection, a few months ago I suggested that may the hist itself is of Oblivion origin, I look forward to gather more information after the book is out

I'm gonna have to argue with you on that last point there. Here is the wiki page. The reason I think that the Hist were not transplanted from a Daedric realm, and are native to Nirn is because, the daedra are the ones who did not wish to be associated with the creation of Mundus. That being said if they wanted nothing to do with it, why would one of them contribute to something he/she was against?

Who can say for certain? Idk as it currently stands (fact;lore-wise) the Hist were here on Nirn and not from Oblivion. It clearly says there home was Black Marsh when it was part of a larger continent before most of it was destroyed by the ancient wars.

I just finished the book here a short overview of the ending, more maybe tomorrow:
DONT READ ANY FURTHER IF YOU DON'T LIKE SPOILERS!
Spoiler:
* Cheydinhal gets overrun by the undead followers of Umbriel, also Gideon and Stormhold in Blackmarsh are devasted
* Umbriel reaches the Imperial City in the end, but the City itself doesn't get great damage and in the end Umbriel vanishes
* Umbra is a part of Clavicus Vile, Vile gave a part of his power to make the creation of the sword possible, but over the time the part of Vile in the sword wanted freedom, in the end Vile get "Umbra"(sword and part of his sould/power) back
* the trees on Umbriel are relatives or some kind of ancestors of the hist trees and it seems like this trees doesn't come from Nirn nor Oblivion.
Character endings:
* Inspector Colin dies
* Mere-Glim and Fhena return together with Umbriel to the home plane of the (hist) trees
* Attrebus and Annaig survive the end fight
* Sul gets the host of Vile, what happens after the flying city vanishes is not said, but Vile will certainly return to his realm
A bit a vague summary for today more tomorrow^^

For Cheydinhal and some more:
Spoiler:
* Cheydinhal: the city was sieged by the undead, but almost all residents, where evacuated although many soldiers died during the this event, after Umbriel passed by the evacuated most of them returned home, so Cheydinhal have not suffered the fate of Lilmoth
* Solstheim: Solstheim is officially Dunmer territory, after the Red Year Skyrim resigned the claims on this land. Allmost all settlements are on the coast lines, the one settlement that Sul and Attrebus reached during their journey in Solstheim wasn't aligned to any great house, it was autonomous. The village is ruled by a Dunmer named Sathil, the village bears the same name.
*Umbra: The sword was lost in the ruins of Vivec City, Sathil made a deal with Clavicus Vile to reclaim it, but as the blade no longer is host for Umbra (some part of Clavicus Soul) everybody who touches it gets mad, as the blade drains most of his soul instantly. Sathils son took the blade and then killed many of his man, before they could subdue him. Later he get the blade again and killed his mother, he was imprisoned beyond the castle of his father. Attrebus and Sul can kill him but are locked inside the tomb where Sathils son was imprisoned. They although can escape into Clavicus realm.

From reading the extract, I was shocked to find that:
Spoiler:
Stormhold was overrun. As one of the few who have played the mobile game based there, it was a little like Morrowind's destruction in The Infernal City. Although I have no particular attachment to the winding brick passages of Stormhold prison, it was sad to hear that the place was wiped out.
