Modding and the new CK

I was just wondering if anyone is already starting to get ideas for mods, or wondering how the Creation Kit will work. Me and a few friends have started a little project, and yeah, 6 months pre-emptive, but we figured it would give us time to get all the writing done, and the meshes and textures will be done by the time we need to implement them.

Also, if this is read by the right people, I just wondered if Skyrim could get it's own Mod board in the forum, for discussions such as this, because I'd assume a lot of people are thinking the same thing.

First of all, welcome
Secondly, a MOD subforum will probably be made when the Creation Kit is released. Right now it's all just speculation so this forum is good enough for everything.
Thirdly, I do believe that the Creation Kit will be easier to use now that Bethesda have their own engine. I'm not a modder (not yet at least) but that's my take.

On the subject of a Mod Board, the current forum is purely speculation and info gathering and will be archived once Skyrim is released and a new forum, like the ones for the other games, is created. This is the reason that posts in this forum don't count towards a user's overall post count.

Hope that clarifies things.

As far as mods of my own goes, my first mod will be a private use on and it will ifx the little things I don't like about birthsigns and racial bonuses etc. (that is if there are any problems I have with them :P). I'm not really a big modder myself.

Thanks guys :)

I was wondering why my post count was staying at 0 haha

I am actually wondering how the birthsigns will work now, seeing as at least four of them were just attribute buffs. I guess we'll find out in time.

Sadly birthsigns seem to have been taken out. Perks will now form constellations in the stars but I suspect that this will be a purely visual bonus :|

I'd heard that, but thought it may have just been speculation, perhaps I'll mod birthsigns in then .

Well the game has a new Graphics engine.

I doubt whatever meshes you have ready would be compatible the instant the game comes out. There's going to be a frantic rush to get exporters working with Skyrim. And it took ages with Oblivion.

I'll probably figure out how to remove invincibility from children; not so I can go on a rampage, I just hate arbitrary molly coddling to appease over-sensitive nutty parents with no grip on reality.

I guessed they wouldn't be compatible, but even so, I can complete the mod to it's fullest extent using Skyrim's materials, I'll just update it at a later date with unique items and such.

And I agree, invincible children is just Political Correctness invading games. Obviously killing adults is fine, otherwise they wouldn't let us do that either. >_>
