Should I get this for pc or xbox 360

I have oblivion on xbox 360, and while I still greatly enjoyed it, I feel that I would've enjoyed it about twice as much with all the UOP and whatnot for the pc that would've let me done quests when I wanted to, instead of waiting til level 30+ to get the highest level item. Other problems missing quest items that the UOP let you have after the quest was over like mages guild and thieves guild questline. Also, bugs with DLC that required you to uninstall/reinstall because of more leveling problems. Not to mention many other game breaking glitches, possibly rare, but still dangerous, such as disappearing quest followers and such.

I just feel/felt restricted a lot when playing it and would have to read a page on uesp before I did the actual quest to look out for bugs or if the reward was leveled or not. So here's a poll, but I would appreciate an explanation of why you think xbox or pc is better for skyrim.

PC of course my good fellow, provided you have the rig to run the game.

If so, you get better graphics, mods, and I guess better playability.

The poll wouldn't let me vote so I'm going to cast my vote here in the actual thread.

PC.

PC even if you have to upgrade massivly for the game. Allways PC.

Why would anyone ever get a TES game on a platform that cant use the Construction Set?

Some of us don't have the money for these massive upgrades. I got 200 hours out of one playthrough of oblivion on xbox

To parrot others, yeah get it for the PC if your machine can handle it. If you can't afford an upgrade however go with the 360. Honestly either way you get a great deal. :) I have Oblivion on the 360 and the PC and i've poured many hours into both. Lot's of achievements are sure to come your way too if you're into that sort of thing.

You did nothing wrong; there are some bugs being worked out with polls after our most recent forum upgrade that prevent us from voting. Hopefully it'll be fixed soon!

The potential is there. It's also rather helpful for any bugs that occur, as you can get our way in and out of situations with relative ease. I never use it, though. ;)

Same as most other responses; if you have the rig for it, go PC. You get everything on PC that you get on 360 (you can even mod in the various achievements if you want) but you also have the option of improving or completely changing the game if you desire. That said, I'm going 360.

So true. Go xbox simply because this is a squeeky new game.

Xbox, for the sake of using a controller.

I'm doing what I did for oblivion, getting it for the Xbox then in a couple of years getting it for PC.
I have literally no self-dicipline, if I'm on the PC and I find something a challenge I'll just use the console to cheat, I can't help it.
Therefore I must get it on the xbox to fully enjoy it. Also I've always thought a mouse and keyboard is so clunky compared to a controller and using the controller on Pc doesn't feel right unless it's built into the game.

I guess the specs aren't released yet for what kind of pc one will need to run skyrim, but a new 2011 macbook pro should be able to run it right?

I didn't list PS3 because from my experience with oblivion, it seems ps3 has some more minor inconveniences that xbox didn't. Yet if I had to choose between xbox and ps3 for skyrim, I'd choose xbox for many reasons, but probably the simplest would be that I played it before on the 360, so it would seem impractical and odd to play its sequel on another platform with another controller. Moving to the PC on the other hand, is just practical from what I can tell, and a game of this magnitude is bound to have glitches and small bugs/annoyances. Similarly, even though FF13 was released for xbox AND ps3, the FF franchise just seems to belong on the playstation, and one can't help but feel it'd feel more natural on its original console so I got it for ps3.

Quick question, how long did it take for the UOP to come out after the release of oblivion on the PC? And could you guys have lived without it? Is it as amazing as I've read? Something for skyrim will most likely be released I assume.

I also will have no problem with resisting cheating and stuff since I don't want to ruin the game for myself.

The UOP was first uploaded to Planet Elder Scrolls in July of '06 (a few months after the game), and it was updated regularly until August '08. I'd expect a longer delay for a comprehensive patch this time thanks to the apparent complexity of it, but it still shouldn't take long. The UOP page on the wiki has a list of all the changes it makes at the bottom, so you can see for yourself whether it's as essential as some claim (unfortunately, I've never had a chance to use it myself, so I can't give you more than that).

PC definately. I can't imagine what it would be like playing ES with a controller. It'd be very awkward :?

Playing it with a keyboard is horrible!
Besides, Oblivion and Morrowind seem faster on console

I might look into getting a PC compatible controller.

I couldn't imagine playing a racing game on the PC.

WHAT?! Keyboards are superior to controlers. In FP games at least.

I have Oblivion for XBox and PC, but to be honest I actually prefer it on the XBox! This may just be an issue of preference, but I find that everything just feels easier on the XBox, not in terms of difficulty but the interface seems simpler while on the PC version I find it very unwieldy, the only exception being of course that scrolling on the XBox is terrible. This is an area where we'll likely see improvements for both in Skyrim though.

The graphics on the PC version however are much better on a decent computer, and while the Fallout games have shown improvements on the XBox it seems likely that the PC version will still be the only way to really get the most out of the outdoor environments; not that it should make a major difference to the experience, but that's just how it is I think. Mods are a definite draw to the PC version, if only they could provide a way to play mods on the XBox version, it doesn't seem like there are really any big technical barriers, but I suppose Microsoft wants everyone to go through their marketplace and that'd be no good as it doesn't handle big lists very well at all, and they're exactly keen on free.

For me I suspect the decision will ultimately be towards the XBox, as I'll probably upgrade it to a slim one later this year. I have a Mac you see so I can only play the PC version of Oblivion in WINE, it does however run excellently but you can never rely on a new game running well (or at all) in it. Maybe if I get a new hard-drive and set-up dual booting... I don't suppose there's any info or good educated guess as to what the requirements might be? My computer can easily handle Oblivion, but it's a few years old now.
