I'm not sure if this is the right place for this, but:

I have my username and password remembered by my internet browser (Google Chrome) so that I can waltz over here and just click "log in." I've never had any issues with it before, but the last several times I've logged in it's told me that I've "exceeded the maximum number of log in attempts," and directs me to one of those awful picture detection things to prove I'm not a spambot. Am I doing something strange, or do the forums have an issue with this sort of thing?

This happened to me to funnily enough. It's working again now however. Perhaps you should try and delete your internet history and cookies etc....you know, the whole internet wipe thing. It worked for me as it ain't coming up again.

Yeah, we're undergoing a server upgrade to help get the site ready for increased load due to Skyrim.

If you run into anymore problems, just let us know either here on the forums, or if you're comfortable with wiki software, give Daveh a shout. The wiki way will almost definitely get a quicker response.

Ah, so that's it. I didn't have any issues with it today, so that's good. Thank you for the head's up, Ratwar!

I've had problems too, I'm using Opera 11.01. I'm bound to believe the latest Opera update has some issues, not related with UESP - of course.

But I'm sure one thing would be highly appreciated: information about these possible difficulties... you could inform members and users about happenings like this. Eh?

I would love too, but I haven't got much warning myself. So far, none of the updates we've done were 'supposed' to involve the forums, and honestly I'm not sure exactly what caused the issue with the passwords.

It may be impossible to anticipate issues like this one (which I can understand, since I get to play System Admin for my occupation ); so perhaps just a quick piece on the UESP front page regarding this specific login issue would be sufficient? I have a feeling you'll end up having a LOT of people report this issue if they don't think to check this forum first!

My idea of the in-advance information was like about a road construction: they inform people they are about to... But of course, in case they weren't about to...

I am having the same problem for a week or so, the cookie for the site keeps expiring, and my login will not persist for long (it used to last weeks) despite checking the box. And it's odd that I get the "maximum number of login attempts", even before attempting to log in that day.

krisCrash, just to be clear, is this still a problem for you? Or anyone else for that matter.

Well, It happened to me again but not with login in to the forums. Instead it was when I tried to get into the ACP.

Today my cookie logged me in correctly. I will let you know if I get problems again

Just an added bit of feedback, just for archives sake.

I had the exceeded login attempts issue too, a week or so back. But as well as that, I wasn't able to use my password. Only when the additional 'type these characters' box came up was I allowed in. It's been fine of late, though.
