(Too lazy to write several paragraphs about why or why not) Should Solsthiem be in TES5, and if so, what would be different and should it have a pivotal role in the main quest?

No. It shouldn't be in skyrim because we've already been there an done that. Going to Akavir would be more suitable of a place.

From rumors in Oblivion we know that:
1) The Raven Rock colony failed
2) Skyrim is planning to invade Solstheim.
Let's have ESV Skyrim take place just after the successful capture of Solstheim. The PC will be tasked with helping the population of Solstheim integrate with Skyrim and dissolving the remaining pockets of Imperial soldiers. I think the map should be the same as in Bloodmoon for the nostalgia and to see the environment beautifully redone. Time has passed though, so....

1) Expand the Raven Rock colony, but have it be a ghost town or bandit stronghold
2) Feature a destroyed Fort Frostmouth
3) Have Castle Karstaag be overrun with undead and Necromancers (Guild Base?)
4) Thirsk should be filled with drunken Nords :P

Solstheim had its chance in Bloodmoon, so it should be mentioned. Akavir would be a good place to build upon from Skyrim.

Possibly in an expansion like the Shivering Isles.

but going to solstheim makes much more sense then going to akavir, akavir is across an ocean and solstheim is right there. i think you should actually be able to go to solstheim, itd be just plain fun seeing what happened to it post morrowind.

Check the map. Solstheim is part of the Province of Morrowind. Hence why it was a plugin for Morrowind (which oddly enough only takes place in Vvardenfall). So I doubt it will be in Skyrim.

Why would we want to go somewhere we've been before? Going to Akavir would make more sense because its just across the ocean. And would make a really cool plug-in.

Thanks for looking it up, but I suppose if the dragons come from Akavir, perhaps Solstheim is already lost when you start the game. I think we'll see enough mead halls in Skyrim anyway :P

Yes I would like if Solstheim was fitured, even as an expansion pack. With that, we will have to have werewolves! And also I want Skyrim to have more expansions or DLC that expand the map, not just one big expansion pack.

Solstheim is/was a land in dispute. Morrowind, Skyrim, and the Empire each felt they had a claim to it. On the map, you'll see it's just a standard beige...meaning that (before the Imperial Simulacrum) it was yet unclaimed.

I think it'd be really neat to have some kind of revisit. The Nords, lately, have been revving up their old war machine and conquering lands. So..a land as isolated and relatively unclaimed/undefended as Solstheim would make sense for them to grab, especially if it gave them a flanking position over Morrowind.

Anyhow...original point was that Solstheim is, as of 3E434, in dispute.

From the latest video of the studio tour, we ca know that Solstheim is at least not a part of the main , may be it is include in a expansion but idon't think that they will create two explantion in a same place

and all we'll be doing is comparing morrowind solstheim with spanking new skyrim solstheim. Its important that TES always deals with new stuff to fill out the world imo

I think it'd be cool. We could encounter the Dunmer refugees and they could tell us all the details of what happened in Morrowind.
