The climate

So how will the climate in Skyrim be? It's pretty snowy up there I suppose, but isn't that also pretty... Boring? In Oblivion we had the nordic climate up in the north, the swamps and stuff down south, and all those forrests in between. I don't want to walk through tons and town of snow everywhere, I want some nature and stuff too - how do they solve this?

For a cold place, Alaska does the whole thing quite well.

Depends if the whole province is included, there'll be some other enviroments, even if we have to wait for DLC for it to be there.

An endless white sea doesn't have to be boring, it can difficult, you could get lost, blizzards, and just you, alone, with nothing but Ice surrounding you would definitely make you feel lonely.

I agree, we can have forests, mountains, swamps, and more.

@General: I'm not sure if we would face endless blizzard all the time.

Like I said, Alaska haves spring, winter, autumn and summer just like every place. And when winter goes away sometimes the ice (from the rivers, etc) turns into water. I assume we would face the same things in Skyrim.

an endless blizzard would be bad, but how about only when you face certain places, or regions?
and a random storm out of nowhere will add some realism, and make the game more immersible, if it reduces visibility, you'd have to find cover quickly.

Yeah. What ES V will need are seasons.

Look at Iceland (since this game will undoubtedly be full of barmy Vikings I think that's quite apt) it has tundra, glaciers, active volcanoes, beaches, mountains, moorlands and open plains. Don't tell me that Skyrim can't be varied.

Although it would be quite interesting to see seasons as the year progresses, watching the province change from a mountainous Arcadian vista to a frozen wasteland. It would also be brilliant if there were areas off the coast to the north that were only accessible during winter months when the sea was frozen.

Edit - Lindai got in before me. Great minds think alike...

It will just have to back up the desolate environments with elaborate settlements and atmospheric interiors

Yes, there will most likely be places where there is greenery and so on but i don't think Bethesda would go into so much trouble as to make seasons with different weather patterns and environment changes although you never know. But i do hope they include cool snow blizzards like the ash storms in Morrowind

Snowy, stormy and rainy, not much sun. Quite a few Blizzards I expect.

This. If they have seasons it will be quite interesting too. But more likely they'll make some cozy low land valleys I guess?
