What are your thoughts on this? The ATi brand will no longer be used and it will only be AMD although product line names will be retained, with the Radeon and FirePro branding still intact, but ATI Eyefinity will now be known as AMD Eyefinity.

I don't think I would say Nvidia cards are better, The HD 5970 is better than the 400 series from Nvidia, but yes it is just a name.

So, do you know what "ATi" stood for?

I don't think ATi stands for anything at all, they are just named ATi Technologies Inc.

In 1985, ATI was founded as Array Technologies Incorporated

I think he meant he knew the cards a lot better. Like knowing their specs by their name. Not sure, though.

Well, I always liked ATi over AMD, but what are you to do? If the cards are still the same, it's no big deal.

AMD bought ATI ages ago, I don't know why they decided to brand their graphic cards as AMD before now. To me it doesn't matter if it is AMD or ATI, the products are the same.

Ahh, I see Yeah I agree, it's not like AMD is (hopefully) going to slaughter the quality of the cards in any way, I just personally see ATi as a more recognizeable name in Graphics than AMD.

its probaby a money decision, why spend money on making cards that due the same things under 2 name brands, when you can save money and cancel one of the names out, saving on printing and advertising, cost less with one name.
