Ok, I've been meaning to start a poll about this for a while now after seeing these eHarmony commercials on tv every 30 minutes. I don't know any couples who have met on one of those sites and I know a lot of couples. The commercials say 1 in 5 couples met on the sites... so just wondering what the real numbers are.

I know too many.

Two of them being my Dad's second and third marriages.
Well, the third hasn't been married yet, but you get my drift.

I know quite a few, Like Tanyalee and Joshua.. Oh wait.. Nvm, I don't know any.

I know of none.

I once saw a hilarious troll on an MMO one time, talking about e-dating being a good thing.

Not to be shallow Hal here, but I hate those dating site commercials. They put all the super attractive couples on there. In real life, you're chances of finding a good looking match is not as large as the commercials make them out to be.

Plus, it sounds kind of odd to be on a date with someone that was suggested to you by the Internet...

alot of them are full of spammers trying to get you to go to some [&@%!] site. (come see me over here, sense i can't post these here, blah blah blah)

I've try them out, they don't work, every time I've talk to one, you can't get a straight answer out of them.

they email ya saying where in the same town, lets get together, when you check their profiles, their not even in the same state you are.

then those that have the same town listed, don't even know facts of the town they are in, or where anything is,.

its just all a scam to get you to become a gold member and give them money,

fell for it two time, after you pay them. that's the last time you hear from anyone on their,.

you get all kinds of emails and messages up to 15 times a day, then once you pay to upgrade, it all stop, cause they got your money now.

so my advise, don't bother with them

If I ever find myself clicking to a dating site my robot butler will shoot me. No seriously, I would much rather find my match the natural way.

But i've never known anyone whose found their 'perfect match' through a dating site.

I met my girlfriend online. Now, it wasn't through an e-dating site however, it was through an MMO. We weren't actively "looking" or anything, it just kind of happened naturally as we had been talking and eventually started hanging out in person more often. We've been together two and a half years now.

But i there doesnt feel such a huge presence of online dating in england. Its here but i dont its as strong as in other places.

That's because there are freaks on the internet
but i think chatting with people is sometimes easier for socially inept people. Same goes for people who meet in MMOs, gives them something to talk about
But i'm in no way saying this is a good way to meet people, There are plenty of freaks, serial killers etc on the internet

Good point. I'm sure that around 2 out of those 4 relationships that don't work are the results of stalking or other strange behavior. Even on these forums, I watch what I say. It's not that I don't trust the members here. I just don't trust the people that are looking at what we all say. www. = "World-Wide Web". Anyone can see our posts.

One, but not strictly on a dating website - it was on Facebox, which as far as I can tell is a poor man's Facebook. I also didn't realise that they'd met online and dropped myself right in it by going on a rant about how anyone who looks for love online is either desperate or a total nutter because they can't get laid in real life, right in front of them.

My old best high school buddy is married to a girl he met on WoW. I suppose you could classify that as e-dating.
