World Cup Fever

So I know we are not in the World Cup yet, but I wanted to get this thread started as I just went to a USA send off game. USA beat Turkey in a 2-1 victory.
What I was hoping to see in this thread are comments about any World Cup games, or International Friendlies, not club team games. Also, this is not a thread to bash other countries. I know we have users from around the world, and several of these countries will play each other throughout the tournament. This is a thread to discuss the games, what we liked, disliked, predictions, (preferably with some more thought than "Because WE ROCK", or other similar non intelligent statements).
So if anyone else saw the game today, what was your reaction? USA definitely started off really slow. I think Specter was just getting worked by 14 on Turkey. Once we put Onyewu in, our D really stepped up. Torres was really consistent today, and Donovan gave some great opportunities.
USA's next game is vs Australia on June 5th.
If your country is not in the tournament, who do you think you will root for?

As you probably know, Ireland got knocked out by France.
So I'll be supporting Holland. If Holland get knocked out then Spain. Did you see their game versus Mexico? Van Persie's the man =)
Are you supporting USA?

I did not know this and I am sad. I dislike France. I didn't see the game, but I do know of Van Persie. I am supporting USA, being American, though I just love to watch the game. Soccer is the only sport I can turn on the TV and instantly be enraptured by. All other sports I need to have some reason to watch it.

why is it the ultimate heresy, remind me where you are from?
And if USA is out, I want England to win.

That makes having a ton of rocks thrown at you sound like it's a privilege.

Yes, I'm Irish, and I live in the same county as Vinegar Hill, so I'm meant to have an instilled hatred of the English. It's in the water.
And if you don't get that I'm joking then you take history
way too seriously.
And something to try to be on topic; I guess my second bet would be Germany.

I'm obviously rooting for Portugal. We have some good players, but overall, not as good as the 2006 group, in my opinion. We could have made it to the final. Plus, we're in the 'death group' this time around.

I hate most of the England team so no way am I supporting them.
I think I'll root for Croatia. Good team, Eastern European and a rough football history with the English. Perfect.

Since I don't hold interest in soccer, or any sport all that much, mark me down as Korea DPR. It would be hilarious for them to win at any moment.

Football is a sport that involves the hand, ball, and a hard tackle that isn't rugby, outlander. [/MorrowindDunmerVoice]

The sport you are thinking of is actually handegg. Football actually involves a foot hitting a ball, all the time.

Why did Americans choose to call their sport, which has little to do with feet, football? Back on topic, I loved watching Italy win last time I watched the World Cup, so I'm rooting for them again. How often is the World Cup, again? (I'm American, if you can't tell

)
