A friend tipped me off of a plagiarism against Oblivion. I thought that this was nothing new so I brushed it off.

But when he told me that it wasn't Limbo of the Lost but rather a Japanese MMO, I was surprised.

Nah, plagiarism is when you try to cover up ripping someone else off. That crap didn't even attempt to cover it up. I could spot the obvious similarities WITHOUT my glasses on, and I'm about half-blind.

Plagiarism is directly copying or closely imitating someone else's work, not covering it up...

It looks like this game didn't even bother making new scenes that look like Oblivion (Limbo) but instead went straight to copying and pasting screenshots.

Personally, I'll be surprised when a sci-fi FPS manages to rip Oblivion off

I was being facetious... I'm well aware that was an obvious example of plagiarism.

Glad to see everyone around here has such a lively sense of humor, though. (I'll throw a link for sarcasm in here, just in case.)

dude... the pics on the left looks like they might NOt be stolen but the HUD and the general style of the game is crazy close to oblivion

Attempts at humor (that don't seem to translate well in a text medium ) aside... Looks like blatant plagiarization to me. Didn't even change enough of what they ripped off to make it less conspicuous. What did they do, just rip off entire cells?

Leaves me wondering what other parts of that MMO look like they ripped it off from another game (any other game, not just Oblivion).

Maybe the MMO is a homemade production or you know, minor.

How the hell does anynone involved in this think it's going to go unnoticed? Unless the pictures aren't actually of the finished game.

I agree, Oblivion did borrow heavily from the Godfather movies...

no, i thought oblivion was STRANGELY SIMILAR to certain types of HADDOCK....

i'm sure the Oblivion guys will take appropriate steps

if it damages Oblivion sales then sue, if not , they say imitation is flattery

Not in the business world...If it damages sales then sue, if not then your rip off game must not be very good compared to ours so we don't have to worry about your sucky game.
