When I was at high school, I used to amuse myself by making what I called "song lists". In one column, I wrote the names or the some lines of some altogether random songs that came into my mind, and in the other column I wrote the names of some well-known and well-loved fictional characters - say, from "Harry Potter" or "LOTR" - that could have sung these songs. For example: "Frodo and Sam (in Mordor) - We've got 4 minutes to save the world". I figured it would be fun to make the same lists for Oblivion characters, like "Henantier - I dreamt I was missing...", or "Varon Vamori - I'm in love with a sociopath", or "The Adoring Fan (to the PC) - You are my sunshine, my only sunshine"... Perhaps my examples are a bit unclear, 'cos I don't know THAT many songs in English. But I would be glad if someone got my idea and picked up this thread. You just think of an NPC and then find a song that can match his/her character and feelings, or would have sounded humorously if performed by him/her. It is always better to give the most suitable line(s), and not just the name of the song. Good luck!

Haha, i love your adoring fan one

"Maze, psychopathic daze, i create this place
Back away from tangents on the verge of drastic
Ways, cant escape this place, i deny your face
Sweat gets in my eyes i think im slowly dying

Put me in a homemade cellar,
Put me in a hole for shelter,
Someone hear me please,
All i see is hate,I can hardly breathe and i can hardly take it!!

Hands on my face, overbearing I can't get out
Hands on my face, overbearing I can't

Lost, run at my own cost, fearing laughter, scoffed
Running from the rush, detached from such and such
Bleak all around me, weak, listening, incomplete
I am not a dog, but I'm the one they're dogging

I am in a buried kennel
I have never felt so final
Someone find me please, losing all reserve
I think I'm gonna go crazy

Hands on my face overbearing, I can't get out
Hands on my face overbearing, I can't

You all stare, but you'll never see, something inside me
You all stare, but you'll never see, something inside me
You all stare, but you'll never see, something inside me
You all stare, but you'll never see, there's something in you I despise

Cut me, show me, enter
I am willing and able and never any danger to myself
Knowledge of my pain, knowledge of my pain
Or was my tolerance a phase? Empathy, out of my way

I can't die, I can't die
I can't die, I can't die

You all stare, but you'll never see, something inside me
You all stare, but you'll never see, something inside me

Despise, despise

Have you ever seen God?
Have you ever seen God?
Have you ever seen God?

I think this song fits perfectly cos he is living on hate, and revenge cos Lucien Lachance killed his mother, and he rots away in his little cellar below the lighthouse, and he goes crazy, haha, its as if the song was made for him

That's a pretty good shot

Sheogorath - They're Coming to Take Me Away

Haha, thank you

Metallica - Master of Puppets

Take your pick; I'd say either Mehrunes Dagon (for the Mythic Dawn and the way he keeps a good grip on them/the way they worship him) or Mannimarco. Same reasons for Mannimarco, just apply them to the Necromancer cult, The Order of the Black Worm. They both keep their sheep in line quite well.

I'll see if I can't think up some more later. At the moment, I'm coming up blank on any other NPCs.

Daedric Prince Azura - Fireflies

Ok the "planet Earth" part is a bit out of place.

The fireflies obviously refer to "will-o-the-wisps".

I'll think of a better heartsong .

Sanguine - Hot Patootie (From Rocky Horror Picture Show)

Err... will think of others later.

Jedi Taters wrote:Sheogorath - They're Coming to Take Me Away

Hah ha haha That one is the best. Very nice, Jedi Taters

I can't really think of a single person to connect this song with, just half of the Anvil sailors who frequent the The Fo'c's'le, I guess: Drunken Sailor

What should we do with the drunken sailor
What should we do with the drunken sailor
What should we do with the drunken sailor earlie in the mornin'

Hoorays and up she rises
Hoorays and up she rises
Hoorays and up she rises earlie in the mornin'!

I also have this one.

"Skin Ticket"

It could be based on the victims in 'Xaselm', who get killed and resurrected over and over again for experimental purposes.

I think it also fits the victims that are trapped in a Black Soul Gem, and can never escape.

The song goes;

"Zero and zero is
Nothing but zero
Cancer and people
Conspire together
Running and running
And going forever
Collected and sampled
Starving for zero

Come see my cage
Built in my grave (x4)

Minus the inside
And minus the circle
Inhabhit the riddle
And fill in the hovel
Wherein and herein
Between us and near us
Zero and zero is
Nothing but zero

Come see my cage
Built-in my grave (x4)

Keeping myself alive
Through your empathy (x4)

Let me go!

Keeping myself alive
Through your empathy (x4)

Leave me alone!

Keeping myself alive (x19)"

We're no strangers to love
You know the rules and so do I
A full commitment's what I'm thinking of
You wouldn't get this from any other guy

I just wanna tell you how I'm feeling
Gotta make you understand

Never gonna give you up
Never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you
Never gonna make you cry
Never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you

We've know each other for so long
Your heart's been aching
But you're too shy to say it
Inside we both know what's been going on
We know the game and we're gonna play it

And if you ask me how I'm feeling
Don't tell me you're too blind to see

Never gonna give you up
Never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you
Never gonna make you cry
Never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you

Repeat Chorus

Give you up, give you up
Give you up, give you up
Never gonna give,
Never gonna give, give you up
Never gonna give,
Never gonna give, give you up

Last four lines repeated

It's astounding
Time is fleeting
Madness takes its toll
But listen closely
(Magenta)
Not for very much longer
(Riff Raff)
I've got to, keep control
I remember doing the time warp
Drinking those moments when
The darkness would hit me
(Both)
And the void would be calling
(Transylvanians)
Let's do the time warp again!
Let's do the time warp again!
(criminologist)
It's just a jump to the left
(Transylvanians)
And then a step to the right
(Criminologist)
Put your hands on your hips
(Transylvanians)
You bring your knees in tight
But it's the pelvic thrust
That really drives you insane
Let's do the time warp again!
Let's do the time warp again!
(Magenta)
It's so dreamy
Oh, fantasy free me!
So you can't see me
No, not at all
In another dimension
With voyeuristic intention
Well secluded, I see all
(Riff Raff)
With a bit of the mind flip
(Magenta)
You're there in the time slip
(Riff Raff)
And nothing can ever be the same
(Magenta)
You're spaced out on sensation
(Riff Raff)
Like you're under sedation!
(Transylvanians)
Lets do the time warp again
Let's do the time warp again!
(Columbia)
Well I was walking down the street just a-having a think
When a snake of a guy gave me an evil wink
He shook-a me up, he took me by surprise
He had a pickup truck and the devil's eyes.
He stared at me and I felt a change
Time meant nothing, never would again
(Transylvanians)
Let's do the time warp again!
Let's do the time warp again!

Mehrunes Dagon: Still Alive - JoCo

Sanguine: [&@%!] Wants to Hit Me - TMBG

This is kind of amusing.

Sting, My Funny Friend and Me

In the quiet time of evening
When the stars assume their patterns
And the day has made his journey
And we wondered just what happened
To the life we knew before the world changed
When not a thing I held was true
But you were kind to me and you reminded me
That the world is not my playground
There are other things that matter
And when a simple needs protecting
My illusions all would shatter
But you stayed in my corner
The only world I know was upside down
And now the world and me, I know you carry me

You see the patterns in the big sky
Those constellations look like you and I
Just like the patterns in the big sky
We could be lost we could refuse to try
But we made it through in the dark night
Would those lucky guys turn out to be
But that unusual blend of my funny friend and me

I'm not as clever as I thought I was
I'm not the boy I used to be because
You showed me something different, you showed me something pure
I always seemed so certain but I was really never sure
But you stayed and you called my name
When others would have walked out on a lousy game
And you could've made it through
But your funny friend and me

You see the patterns in the big sky
Those constellations look like you and I
That tiny planet in a bigger guy
I don't know whether I should laugh or cry
Just like the patterns in the big sky
We'll be together till the end is nigh
Don't know the answer or the reason why
We'll stick together till the day we die
If I had to do this all a second time
I won't complain or make a fuss
When the angels sing that that unlikely blend
Are those two funny friends
That's us

I always thought it is rather suitable for Farwil Indarys. Once, when I was playing as a strong-and-silent Orc Crusader, I somehow managed to get that stuck-up youngster out of the Oblivion Gate, and in the process my role-playing nature showed itself and I thought up a whole fanfic about the two of them, the Orc grudgingly teaching Farwil to become a real knight. As I have already said, most songs I know are soundtracks from the movies I've watched in English to improve my listening skill.
