Is oblivion not a bit of a small game??

I'd consider it's small because there are only like 4 à 5 qeusts a city, and the main qeusts and the guilds are easily to fullfill. The deadric shrines are pretty cool though, but deliver like 6 qeusts. How could i entertain myself after done al those thiny qeust around city's and the most of the daedrics shrines. The dungeons are very nice, but i have some vast i usually visit, (Rickety mine, Fort Nikel)

Fort Nikel is one of the places I always like to visit when passing too!
There should be 15 Deadric Shrine quests.
I'm sure we'd all love the game to be bigger, but then if you compare the price to a 2hr film on dvd, I think Ob is pretty damn good value!

yeah, but can i ask what to do. I've been expelled from the fighters guild, and i killed lucien lachances. Im champion of cyrodiil, and the grey fox. I wan't to do something like questing, playing a role in the game as city gaurd work in a blacksmith. How do that sort of things, because i really like the job thing.

It is about 1/4 the size of Morrowind. It is small. Lots of content is either fillers (repeatable boring quests of find X and fetch it, optionally kill Y) or random (random loot, random levelled enemies) - Comparison dollar for dollar with a DVD movie would look rather poor, considering most of the time it is much like a C-grade hong-kong karate movie like Ninja Strikes Back 2 - same content repeated over and over sometimes in slight variation building most of the content, and maybe 2-3 "wow" moments from the beginning to end.

You're not fooling anyone, your post count is too high for you to not be hooked. I dont think any1 is hooked on Ninja Strikes Back 2.
As to what to do after beating the game...there's already a thread on that.

for the record, it's been almost 2 months since I last played Oblivion.
Currently playing Deus Ex. The game area I'm in is pretty small, but to each quest there are at least 2-3 solutions, you can pick questlines that conflict with each other, come up with unusual solutions (drag a barrel with poisonous gas across half the level, then throw it into air vent of the room your target is in, shoot it and run) and even though the game aspires to be a first person shooter (!!) its role-playing content is more rich than it was in Oblivion.

2 months? Long time. A friend of mine told me about Deus Ex a year or two ago, said it was a great game. I've never played it, not even completely sure what its about.

Morrowind is 14 square miles, Oblivion is 16, plus, all of Oblivions dungeons are bigger.

Morrowind had 3x as many factions. And there are about 3-5 different models for each different type of dungeon, and they repeat them a lot. Geographically Cyrodiil is bigger than Vvardenfell. But more was happening in Vvardenfell.

Lies, damn lies, and statistics!!
It all just depends on how you like to measure your size!

I'm not sure how they measure this but likely they took the landmass of Vvardenfell vs map size of Cyrodiil. Not taking into account all the islands around Vvardenfell (whole Sheogorad, Zarfibel Bay, Azura Coast) and invisible walls limiting game area of Oblivion. Cyrodiil is -PERCEIVABLY- much smaller. There are 8 cities/towns in Tamriel vs about 20 in Morrowind. Travel from Vivec to Balmora is about as much of an undertaking as travel from Bruma to Leyawin (unless of course you take the official roads, sucker - roads in Cyrodiil are the most useless of human inventions). Lots of Cyrodiil's terrain are completely useless mountains without as much as some random caves. Of course most of Vvardenfell are ashlands, but there are the ashlanders, the vampires, the ancient dunmer fortresses, daedric shrines (each being one of the most difficult dungeons), dwemer ruins and many many more. Settlements are smaller and useless. And generally by now I know -all- of Cyrodiil, every single settlement, hut and camp. About half of Morrowind remains unexplored. And of course about 1/4 the number of joinable factions and various quests and questlines, half the number of wearable/equippable armour/weapons and number of dialogue choices cropped by ten or so.

Yeah, right. Then everyone's just going to whine about how Oblivion was so much bigger and so much better and there was so much more you could do in Oblivion compared to this crappy new "TES: Tamriel" game that sucks and is too simple.

yep, my guess is TES:Tamriel will have one town for each province except of the more wild ones, and each province will occupy up to a square mile of real world terrain total.

dude that would make me feel like a giant! One square mile for each province woah!thats like 30 secs of running in the game.if they were gonna make TES:Tamriel i say they take about 15 years to make it using like top secret 3d anitmation techniques form area 51(anyone a paranoid area 51 buff willing to risk their life getting this piece of technology that we dont even know exsist?) and make every province down to real world size.so like going across cyrodill should be like a couple thosand miles. Also they should hand make each dungeon with a different texture so they all dont look relativley the same what so ever. They should also have over a hundred guilds, about 1,000,000 quests, every animal in this world and theirs, insane a.i,dragons, ships you can sail, and fish you can catch by fishing.

I'd love if their were more side quests, their are only 4 a city. Really to few, i'd love to do quests but im nearly done of all the quests in the city's and im only playing for like 20 hours, What to do now? dungeon crawling i want the damn qeusts!##
Posted: Sun Aug 20, 2006 8:36 am
by Jairiit
if i look on the qeust database on uesp i can only find like 35 side quests and i can't play 200 hours for 35 qeusts. The daedric shrines are also quick done? What after, are their more quests?

Thats why it's TES (?) as in not TES 5. They need to wait about 10-20 years before they even think of trying Tamriel, or they'll screw it up horribly.

Oblivion is smaller than morrowind
SO WHAT?
Morrowind bored very quickly; all quests resembled each other, cliff racers sucked, the ashlands (and nearly everything) looked boring. Travelling was boring. Fighting was boring. The different fighting classes weren't balanced. Morrowind crashed up often.
Don't start thinking 'everything was better in the old times'

Everything applies to Oblivion just the same only more so. Except of looks. Oblivion looks good. Oh, and there are oblivion gates instead of cliff racers.

Hi Vook.
The original Deus EX, or Deus Ex2?
I played them both at least 3 times.
It is a bit like the Morrowind/Oblivion thing in that the original game has a lot more content but the sequal has more sophisticated graphics.
I really used to like the throwable landmine things from DX1.
Have you ever played System Shock 2?
A truly great FPS that also had RPG style character development.

Stopped playing DX2 just to play part 1 through first. Never played System Shock yet. And I agree, DX2 seems hugely dumbed down comparing to part 1. And it happened because it had to be ported to XBOX.
