Quest mechanics + other stuff

Hi. Before Daggerfall, I had played Oblivion a bit, and very briefly tried out Morrowind (I'm thinking about buying it for myself).
So, I've just completed the main quest (phew), with the occasional help from FAQs and the uespwiki. I'm now doing mages guild quests, so I can get loot, promotions and eventually access to item maker and daedra summoning! Here are some observations and/or questions:
- I had to find mummy wrappings... from a mummy. I went in the dungeon and found one mummy. I killed it, but got no wrappings. I searched the entire dungeon, I think, as I found lots of secret doors, and zoomed the map around until my finger started to hurt. I found no other mummies. I exited the dungeon, having found phat loot, and re-entered it. I found a mummy rather fast, but again - no wrappings, no other mummies. Again I exited and entered the dungeon. Third time's the charm - I found the mummy quickly and got wrappings! Was this a bug or a feature?
- One other quest was to track down and kill 8 rogue imps. Upon entering the dungeon, I found one imp rather quickly, and for some reasons, the 7 remaining imps seemed to appear very close to me as I was resting. Were they roaming or were they really being spawned near me? Either way, I can't complain, as I didn't have to search through the entire dungeon. Namely I didn't have to spend time to find a way to open some blocked entrances in elevator shafts (the main quest has some of these...).
- I also had to kill an atronach earlier on. It wasn't too far away from the dungeon entrance. Is this intentional or just a lucky coincidence? Btw, it was stuck in an open stone casket or something, so it couldn't roam freely!
- Fire daedra were the biggest surprise for me. I was happily surprised that a fire daedra can take me out quickly. I must have thought that they're not much worse than a fire atronach. Of course, I hadn't prepared any means to resist fire.
- I never got the book quest from Barenziah. Rats. Not enough reputation? I did complete Helseth's quest. I never did much random noble quests btw.
Anyway, here's some vanity! I basically had a choice of making either a female dark elf powergame spellcaster, or a male breton powergame paladin - type guy. I went for the spellcaster. (Going to insert a tinypic link here later)
Primary: Alteration, Mysticism, Destruction
Major: Restoration, Illusion, Thaumaturgy
Minor: Mercantile, Medical, Short Blade, Dodging, Etiquette, Streetwise
Special advantages: Increased Magery int x 3, Spell Absorption in darkness *)
Special "disadvantages": Critical Weakness to disease, Darkness Powered Magery (lower ability in daylight), Forbidden stuff: Leather (snicker), silver, orcish (tee hee), tower shield and so on... you get the idea.
(* Since I relied on being able to absorb my own spells, this bit me in the back when I was attacked by foos in daylight.
As soon as I created an area effect spell, and found out that I indeed could absorb my own spells with a good chance, at least in darkness, the game became easier. Teleport, levitation, water walking & breathing make life easier. I'm keeping a lookout for nice pieces of plate armor (heh heh heh). I managed to find a daedric dagger, which is more than enough to kill some of the weaker melee-type enemies.
So, in a nutshell, I think this is an enjoyable game. The dungeons and random bugs are sometimes a pain, though.
