You've all heard the famous "Life is like a box of chocolates" line from Forest Gump's lead actor, Tom Hanks', own writers' heads, so I want to see what you can do with it. Make Life an anology! (Limit, two per person per day.)


I'll start off:

Life is like a GLAD Forceflex bag; if you try to cram too much in, it starts coming out in weird shapes.

Life is like this analogy, ultimately disappointing because there's no punchline.

Life is like a grapefruit in that it's round and hard on the outside, pink and squishy with pips on the inside, and some people have half a one for breakfast.

Life is like a long, hot bath. The longer you stay in it the more wrinkly you get.

Life is like a game of poker. Either you win, or you lose.

Life is like a pencil. As you sharpen it, it writes better, but eventually it's worn down to the nub.

Life is like Mac OS. It can be stylish, but then one day BAM! You're hit by the spinning beachball of death.

life is like a video game:exciting at first, and then gets gradually more old and boring before you throw it away

Life is like a box of chocolates: the rest of your family gets there first and eat all of them but the strawberry ones, that you eat anyway but feel slightly sick afterwards and regret.

Life is like a crowbar. It just makes you wanna smash something!

Life is like a tornado, exciting at first but ends in disaster.
Life is like loving someone, it feels great, then your betrayed and you want to end it.

That second one happened to me.

hmm, people are making this a bit personal.

Life is like a video game, incredibly pointless but fun none the less.

I think I'm going to make this a contest! You guys are really coming up with some great ones. I think it'll be out of 3 or 5 criteria that I'll decide on later, but don't worry, it won't be arbitrary. I'll tell you the criteria I will have graded on when I choose winners so that you don't try to edge towards one idea. I'll choose a number of winners depending expnentially on how many are submitted. When I've chosen those winners, I'll turn this thread into a poll with those choices. For now, keep submitting!

Life is like a photograph. We develoip from negatives.

Life is like a coin. You can spend it anyway you wish, but you can only spend it once.

Life is like jumping off a cliff. It starts out slow, and gets faster and faster and faster. And then you die.

Life's like a lolly pop, it tastes great but you're sad when you reach the stick inside.

Life's like a textbook, most of the time it's boring but you feel good once you've completed a chapter.

Life's like being awakened from sleep. You dream happily until someone startles you awake.

Life is like a Lego model. You spend ages building it up, play with it for a while then drop it on the floor and smash it.

Life is also like an analogy contest, because you're always trying to win without actually knowing how or why.

Pure gold

Life is like a psychology class. Most of the time is spent trying to prove that you are intellectually deep, but at the end of the course, you realize that you really have no idea what you are doing, but it was enjoyable anyway.
