System Requirements?????

I used to run morrowind on the 2.6ghz machine of my father but recently I bought a second hand [&@%!] 1ghz computer of my own.
Windows XP
1ghz Pentium III
512mb ram
20ghz hard disk of which 6gb is left
I even changed the video card to make it work...
And still the frame rate is like 1frame per second and the video settings are the lowest of the lowest.
How is this possible?
