Ok im thinking of getting oblivion for the pc but I need someone to recommend a good one that can run oblivion, expansions and mods at a reasonable speed with decent graphics.
Also could anyone give me a estimate of how much a computer that can run oblivion will cost too.
Many thanks in advance.

I assume if you're going to buy a brand new computer, you'd like it to run newer games than Oblivion too? It would also be nice to know how much money you're willing to spend. And are you looking for a pre-built machine, or do you want to assemble it yourself? The latter tends to give you more power for your money.

I wont really be playing any of the games that have super realistic graphics. I mostly play games like oblivion and rts games.
The price im willing to spend is how much I can convince my parents to give me for my birthday which is why im asking here first so I can get an idea of how much it would cost.
I would rather save money by assembling it my self but I have never built one before so im worried I dont have the tools or knowledge to build it so I might screw it up.
I would also consider buying new one too because of their is no chance of me screwing it up but as you said would cost more money which.

Well, I'm afraid you'll have to check the prices yourself, as I don't know what sites or stores you want to buy from. This is what I'd go for though:
Motherboard: MSI P45 NEO-F, Socket LGA775
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E7500 2.93GHz, Socket LGA775. Or if you feel like spending, the
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0GHz, Socket LGA775
RAM: Kingston DDR2 HyperX PC8500 (you get kits of 4gb, which I would recommend)
Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 260 896MB. (got that one myself

). The
GeForce GTS 250 512MB would also do the trick though.
Power supply: At least 500W. I can recommend the
Corsair 550W Black, but it's a bit pricey.
Case: Something that you like. Doesn't have to be fancy to do the job.
I can't say for sure, but I would think this rig would cost you between £500 and £600, depending on what you choose. Plus monitor, keyboard and mouse.

Building your own computer isn't all that tricky. You just have to be careful not to touch any of the electronics, unless you are connected to ground properly. Just use one of those wrist bands with a wire that you attach to a metal part of the case, and you should be fine.
Also, you hardly need any tools at all anymore. Most parts are basically just plug and play. The only thing you might need is a screwdriver for the motherboard screws.
I'm moving this to the Tech Desk.

Yeah, I build stuff all the time, and Im not trained. The computer Codex recommended is fairly good.
I specd out the main components on newegg.com, comes to about 540 USD.

Yeah, NewEgg is an awesome place to buy PC parts. Also, you can try CompUSA.

RAM: DDR2 800MHz 4GB (pick a cheap set of 2x2GB)
Graphics card: Radeon HD 4870 1GB (or 512MB), I recommend Sapphire HD4870 or XFX HD4870
Power supply: Cooler Master Real Power M520
Case: Cooler Master Elite 330

I agree with you Unholy. Intel > AMD. But let's not start any flame wars.

I just bought my pc not too long ago for around $450 and it runs oblivion on full settings easily. It is AMD (Ass-kicking Machine of Death) and i built it kinda how codex is saying. Nowadays though you dont have to build them yourself the company you buy them from will build it for you. Try to buy as many components from the same place as possible to save on tax and shipping. If you want a pc like mine i can dig up my receipt.

It would be great to see receipt for your pc I have been looking around a bit on websites looking for a cheap computer but haven't found anything cheap. I think I will have to get something that will run oblivion on minimum requirements then save up and upgrade one part at a time.
Thanks for the replies from everyone.

It's better if you can just buy all parts to be able to play the game in at least medium settings at once. Can you give any indication as to how much money you've got?
