Holy dookie cake, I loathe, with an intense passion, the creature worse than a daedra spider: THE MOUNTAIN LION.
These freakish, horrible littles jerks of the Oblivion fields and countryside are the cheapest, most blatantly overpowered, most nightmarish things to run into. And I like cats, so I gave it the chance to be a passive animal. Ja, nein, nein such luck at all!

I've been killed by them on plenty of occasions, and once, right after I died, IT STARTED TO LICK ITS PAW AND CLEAN ITSELF, LIKE IT KILLED ME BECAUSE IT WAS BORED. Their attacks are crazy cheap and fast, especially its running attack, which continues even when its not moving! I swear, I see them as tiny dots on the hill, and then, five seconds later, I'M DEAD. Ten arrows are stuck in its head, one of them from a critical hit when I was sneaking, because I knew a fight was going to happen no matter what, AND I'M THE ONE WHO DIES. I've had at least one of my Golden Saints killed by one of the little monsters! Granted, that made the fight a lot less horrific.

SO. MY QUESTION IS. What do you guys think about them?

Meh. They're ok.

They are pretty powerful for a mundane creature I admit.

When I think about it, they are like the Tamriellic equivalent to a clannfear. >.>

Gawd I know, right?! But at least clannfear don't lick their claws after killing you, and they actually have a purpose for killing you! They have to defend their inferno planes of doom and apocalyptic suffering. I think mountain lions kill you because they just feel like it!

Mountain lions don't bother me too much. Don't get me started on those brown bears, though...

But I think they may be a teeny bit slower? They have a pretty cheap running attack too, don't they?

Yes, but if I don't see a mountain lion coming, I still have a chance of blocking the attack. Bears just run me down completely, continuously staggering me, it takes me ages to kill them if I don't get my timing right.

Bears do knock me on my butt a few times too... It's so annoying when you can't can't even try and defend yourself...

Particularly since the game gives you such a lovely view of you landing on your backside...

you can try, it just isnt worth it that much.

We should form an organization purely aimed at the extinction of both bears and mountain lions...

ou could do it that anyone can post how many of the appropriate hides they have(without glitches) and the winner gets their name put in the topic title or something.

Unfortunately, a lot of people start games over, and the lions don't show up until a certain lvl... So I don't think it would be worth the effort... -__-

i have a level 31 character, and that wouldnt be a GOAL, so much as just something to do.

Indeed... starting at this moment, from here on out, with every character I have, I shall record the number of both lion and bear pelts I tear off the cursed being in my signature!

Of course, I'm not sure when I'll start playing Oblivion again, so I'll start tracking it then... I'd look a fool with:
"I've killed:
0 Mountain Lions
0 Bears

i got killed by one in the fighters guild quest, i tried to kill them all myself ithout the help of the hunter, then i got [&@%!] off, and also i was only lvl 2 nord, i was roleplaying so i wanted to make it seem like the nord was like i can take care of these guys by myself with his cockiness and everything. but anyway i just hated them in that one particular moment but no other reason to hate them really!

I have a feeling this tread is not PETA approved.

Or would the Tamriel equivalent be MMETA? (Men/Mer for the Ethical Treatment of Animals)

I considered putting the Daedra in but seeing as theirs an Oblivion Crisis and Cyrodiil doesn't really have a 'Free Speech' policy of any sorts, I left it out. Seeing as Daedra are on the rampage in certain parts of Oblivion.
