The posting of images

Just wondering, I know we should link to images instead of posting in order to make the forums load faster but what about spoiler tags? Does the forum automatically load things hidden in the tags or would this be an alternate way to post pictures?
It doesn't make much of a difference I'spose, just a simple matter of convenience really.

Well, shall we test?
Random picture:
If it looks like it's loading when you open the spoiler (after waiting for a minute) then it still loads them.
EDIT: It doesn't for me, which leads me to believe that it loads all pictures regardless of whether they're in spoilers or not.

yep, it seems the spoiler content is loaded and cached along with the rest of the webpage, it just isn't shown by default. putting a picture in a spoiler will still cause it to be loaded regardless of whether anyone opens the spoiler or not

Actually, something could be done to do this. Because silly Cactus (or another person) made the spoiler code as this:
The text is still there on the page. The style of the text is set to hidden. When 'Show' is clicked it the hidden attribute is removed, and vice versa.
Now, I suspect that if the code is changed into something different:
When 'Show' is clicked JavaScript writes the text you want to be there. And when 'Hide' is clicked it deletes the text. This can be accomplished by creating a <span> wrapping around the token in which is between the spoiler tags. Then using document.getElementById('').innerHTML. Can a mod try that?

No. Why should we make the code ten times more complicated and introduce security loopholes? The spoiler code does what it is supposed to do. Furthermore, insulting mods for creating a perfectly functional bbcode definitely does not make me any more inclined to pay attention to the request.

Whoah! Nephele, Kestral wasn't being serious with that Silly Cactus thing! We joke with each other, we're a close knit community, I know him and Cactus very well, and I know that Kestral wouldn't Insult him in the way you took it.

i sympathise with Nephele a bit here. they've just done a big overhaul of the UESP website and the forums. now it's all working well i think they're content to leave it that way and not risk messing it up.
Kestral - seems to me you know your stuff. if there are any security loopholes possible in your suggestion then you have a while to rethink it and come back later when the UESP team have had time to rest a bit
