Daggerfall free, but certainly not friendly

I'm trying to put on the cheats for Daggerfall which I downloaded earlier thanks to Bethesda releasing it free. For some reson, even though the patch installed automatically the and I edited the z.cfg file in notepad to include "cheatmode 1" at the bottom I can't use any of the cheats. I'm new to DosBox so maybe I'm doing something wrong but as far as I can tell I'm not. Maybe if someone could give instructions on how to re-install the patch as everytime I try, of course, Dos can't read the CD because it isn't there. So if there is more info needed let me know, and if there's a solution even better, thanks!

Please understand that there are just a handful of people here who play Daggerfall. Just be patient, and don't crazy bump the thread like this. If someone knows the answer, they'll post it eventually.

Four hours apart is, yes. As was said, bumping is frowned upon, especially since this topic was still right at the top.

Did you read the guidelines provided by Bethesda themselves?

What are you doing to use the cheats?

Go into a dungeon and press '[' or ']' does anything happen?

If so, the cheats work.

I think you need to start the game with "fall.exe z.cfg" for the cheats to work. So try doing that if you weren't already.

fall z.cfg is the right command.

The version of Daggerfall downloaded is 1.0.165. To use cheat mode, you need to first patch your installation of Daggerfall to 1.07.213. To do this:

1. copy the file DAG213.EXE to the directory you installed Daggerfall to (this is probably C:\DAGGER)
2. run DAG213.EXE
3. run DAGGER.EXE (or if all else fails FALL.EXE Z.CFG)
