okay so i finished the arrow of extrication quest for the thieves guild. I left the house that the grey fox was in and went and fenced 1200 worth of goodys to the guy (i forget his name). any way my quest log says i have to wait for the messenger to find me so i have been waiting, for like two months (real time). Now im starting to get annoyed. I went back to Malintus Ancrus's house where i gave the grey fox the arrow and hes still there! what should i do to fix this i want to finish the quests but i cant seem to get the next quest. Im using Xbox360. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Where have you been waiting?

Best place, imo, is the shack in the Imperial City. Amusei lives right nearby (the Thieves Guild HQ should work if you've gotten that far)

It's the shack right next to Armand Christophe's shack.

Dark Brother, from the bottom of the Bugs section for the Arrow quest on the wiki, there is this that might be causin your prob?:
Wiki wrote:Sometimes Malintus Ancrus will not be standing outside his house when you return to Chorrol with the arrowhead. If this happens, go inside and talk to Malintus before speaking with the Gray Fox, otherwise the Independent Thievery quest will not update and you will not be able to start the next quest. Alternatively, you can fence your amount up to the next benchmark or attack the Gray Fox and make him follow you out of Malintus Ancrus' house. This seems to fix the journal.
Another issue that can arise around this time, is if you went to the Temple of the Ancestor Moths before the Gray Fox gave you the quest for there? There are details on the wiki on how to get around this in the Ultimate Heist bug section.

Either way, it sounds like you are gonna need an earlier save.... Good luck.

How long have you waited in game time? Sometimes Amusei takes his sweet time. Where have you been waiting to. As mentioned he comes to you quicker in some areas? Oh and by waiting do you mean actually using the wait option or wait by doing other stuff?

I don't think it's possible for him to access the HQ unless he finishes the questline.

And the shack that everyone's referring to is the one that you have to buy for 2000 gold in the Imperial marketplace. It's at the office of commerce. You also have to raise the lady's disposition to get her to want to sell it to you.

You really don't need to buy anything though. Just keep sleeping or waiting wherever you can (not shivering isles, though) for 24 hours until he interrupts you to talk!

Hope that helps. :D

Yea the thieves guild HQ isn't even there ... until later

and I think this may be the quest where Amusei doesn't come to the imperial city, but remember you must wait in a city, try to avoid the IC and the city where the gray fox was last perhaps.
