Major Bug - Can't Move! (Also - Hello, World! :-P)

I've been running into a very odd bug. It happened on my old machine when I played over a year ago with very different mods, and it's happening now. It tends to happen in the same place - that is, if I load and go back it happens again - but not always. What happens is this: The viewpoint lowers (like I sank to my knees), I lose all horizontal mouselook ability, I lose all movement ability, and I can no longer change to third-person mode. This is NOT limited to a single savegame; I've had this problem in multiple games. In essence, I'm screwed. The only solution seems to be "save often, and avoid areas which do this repeatedly". My version, mods, computer and settings are thus:

Morrowind/Tribunal/Bloodmoon with latest official patch
Morrowind unofficial patch 1.6.3b
morrowind list merger
morrowind graphics extender
morrowind enhanced
adamantium armor
advanced guards (T & B version)
area effect arrows
attractive arsenal
better bodies 2.2
bitter coast sounds
carnithus' armamentarium
detailed rugs
helm of tohan
entertainers
fashionable merchants
firemoth
firstguard armor
haldenshore 1.2
havish 1.3
morrowind visual pack 2.2
le femme armor
leggings set 1
leggings set 2
leggings set 3
living cities of vvanderfell 03-13
marksman enhanced 1.2
master index
master index upgrade
morrowind comes alive 5.1 full
morrowind comes alive patch 5.2
morrowind graphics extender
morrowind graphics extender vista fix
morrowind enhanced 1.2.1
morrowind fps optimizer
Meer-Sei's better beasts
morrowind visual pack 2.11
passive healthy wildlife v2
plain paper fix (gmst free)
playable dremora 1.1
protective guards
quickchar 1.2
sils argobodies (better heads)
herbalism for purists
THE argonian khajiit facepack
THE breton/redguard/imperial facepack
THE elven facepack
THE facepack compilation
THE nord and orc facepack
the regulars
thieves guild fences
unique banners and signs 1.11
weathered signs 1.1
wakim's game improvements modular (all)
windows glow 2.2

The machine is an HP Pavillion dv6000 laptop.
Dual-core AMD Turion 64 32-bit processor, 1.6 GHz each.
2 gigs of RAM
Windows Vista Ultimate 6.0.6001 service pack 1 build 6001 (PLEASE no flames!)
NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 graphics card w/ 64 MB adapter RAM, driver version 7.15.10.9815

Resolution 1280x800x60 hertz, 32-bit color

Game settings are pretty average; no antialiasing or anything of that nature. If you need any more information, just ask. I see threads all the time with people being chided for not providing enough info with a bugpost, and I'm trying to avoid that error. This is my first bugpost for a game, IIRC, as well as my first post on these forums; please be gentle :-)

first of all: welcome ;)

i'm not sure if this will help, as it doesn't sound like a normal "stuck" problem, but try this:
open the console and type in: TCL ; (and press enter)
then walk to a safe spot (you may be in the air) and you're free.
don't forget to type in TCL again to turn collision back on.

I tried that. Also fixme. It simply locks all movement and the ability to mouselook horizontally.

Also, I forgot to mention... sometimes when it happens, (say, around 1/10 times) it'll fix itself within a few seconds - I'll "get back up" and be able to move again.

Often it seems related to a particular save - I load the save and it happens again after the same amount of time, even if I go to a completely different place - but it can't just be that, because it keeps happening on different save files. I have 10 files going (5 for each of 2 characters), 12 including autosave and quicksave.

[edit:] minor punctuation mistake

I sometimes get troubble with mods that adds scripted sequenses, including loosing playercontrols.I Just have to go back to another save then.

From looking at your modlist you doesn´t seem to have thoose I have problems with.If this is savegame-realated it is always wrye mash to fix saves.

I can't get wrye mash to work :'(

[edit]: I found the problem with wrye mash; my version of wxpython was too new. Fixed; now we find out if it fixes my saves.

Sometimes I shake it off after 10-30 seconds, sometimes I don't... this is really frustrating. Wrye mash didn't seem to help.

repair refs and repair all doesn´t work ? then you have the option to remove "debris cells" and "spawned creatures" but thoose doesn´t seem to apply to you btw.I suspect some malfuntion in a script you have running.
there is things like "enableplayercontrols" and "enableplayerlooking" used in scripts, often used with that blackened out screen...The commands are something like thoose above even if I doesn´t remember them exactly now :)

Fortunately it doesn't happen too often. Though on my old game (previous computer), it happened anytime I used a propylon index. I couldn't use the network at all :'(

I keep 5 saves per character, and I can always increase that number. It works, after a fashion, if I save fairly often - and I do. I'm just surprised nobody's seen or heard of this bug before.

[edit:] I had it happen recently at the exact moment my orc's berserk ended. My health went down, I lost mouse control, fell to my knees, couldn't tab to 3rd-person... then got back up after a few seconds. Dunno if that helps. It isn't always anywhere near when I've used berserk, or even on an orc character.

You normally don't get staggered in the middle of town 100 feet from any other toons. Or for this long (I've left it on for over an hour before, iir the time correctly, with no change). I wish it were that simple.

I'm sure some of those mods conflict.

Try to be more specific. I've actually been pretty careful with that. I watch for compatibility issues when I select the mods, and I use Wrye Mash and TESTool.

After berserking? maybe you've done a lot of fatigue draining actions?

I can't name the exact ones but you could replace many of those face mods with better bodies, You have it but the face mods could still go.

Well, that's true, under normal vanilla Morrowind. But are you sure you aren't using some mod that does something funky with fatigue? I remember something like this happening to me a long time ago, and it was due to a mod. After I removed it, the problem went away.

They're required (them specifically) for my makeover mod. It looks like somehow I didn't list it, but one of my mods uses those resources to replace nearly every NPC in Vvanderfell.

Ohhhh, you could try reinstalling them all, time consuming but a try.

That also happens to me every so often. Try levitating. Try doing one of those divine teleports or charms that t-port you to a shrine.
