The idea here is for this game to be quick and is designed so it doesn't get mired down.
- If you don't post in 2 days, you die.
- If you refuse to vote, you die.
- Once a player has voted for the next lynching, the other players have 24 hours to also cast their votes, or they die.
- Votes may be changed before the lynching, but the 24 hour timer does not reset. A lynching occurs either at the 24 hour mark after the 1st vote, or once everybody has voted.
- Once it is night, worshippers have 24 hours to kill, or they die.
- I would update all statuses on the 1st post, including the member list, votes, deaths, and who is in danger of dying due to inactivity.

I would join that.
Of course I would join any MBG, if only I was online when it started.

That really gets rid of all the roleplay in it, other then discussing who to lynch. It just turns into a forum game. And discussing who to lynch could be done in PMs.addictedtomorrowind wrote:That's good. I might join.Deandra wrote:Count me among those itching for a MBG XIII. I wasn't aware that there was a lot deeper RP to it than that in the other MBGs either.Iamgoofball wrote:That really gets rid of all the roleplay in it, other then discussing who to lynch.

No, it couldn't, because that would be cheating.Iamgoofball wrote:And discussing who to lynch could be done in PMs.

Re: Future RP Ideas
I'm sorry, but I really don't understand what your concern is here. The last 12 MBGs (btw, the G stands for "Game") have not exactly been an example of brilliantly immersive RP. It's a forum game with a touch of RP thrown in for TES flavor. This is no different, except there would be more death on the part of inactive players. Hermaeus Mora's Labyrinth is also a game more than an RP, and it's even got a moderator participating.
I know you personally don't seem to like the idea, and that's ok--you don't need to join. I just don't see why it would bother you for this to exist at all.

Here is the quote from the forum rules
And for the record I checked with Avron and she checked with Arch-Mage Matt before starting Hermaeus Mora's Labyrinth.
Seems like they just don't want spam posts.Forum Games - In our experience, these spamfests devolve into the kind of mindless posting we dislike here at the UESP. The exceptions of course are Trivia games and the roleplay subforum, but please check in at the roleplay discussion thread before you start creating a game.

I will answer my own question. They aren't allowed because more often than not, they devolve into spam. I would like to know how exactly the Molag Bal Game would turn into spam, even with Deandra's modifications.Mars wrote:Do you know why forum games aren't allowed?

Yeah, to me, this basically says that as long as the game doesn't devolve into people just posting "I vote for "insert name here" then it should be fine. Besides, it's not like we havn't experimented with MBG before...

Re: Future RP Ideas
Theoretically we don't have to wait for the last to finish before we start. And the short, snappy, quality would be good, in my eyes. We could even consider adding more player roles, considering that the game itself would be quite fast placed, just as a possible thought. Either way, I'm interested.Deandra wrote:Count me among those itching for a MBG XIII. Would anybody be up for a faster, bloodier MBG like what I describe here? Here's what I'm thinking:

Re: Future RP Ideas
I disagree. People who are in the current game joining a new one might cause confusion and endanger the experience for everyone. If it does start before the current one is finished, I suggest no one who is still active in the current one joins.OblivionDuruza wrote: Theoretically we don't have to wait for the last to finish before we start.

Re: Future RP Ideas
Well it seems that there is more than enough interest for a game to run without the 9 or so people who remain in the current one. That's just my angle on it. This one might be over by the time the current one is over anyway, considering their differing paces.

Re: Future RP Ideas
Missing a game is not the end of the world. I know I'm not the only one to have missed the last two
In fact considering the fact the last one I was involved in was one I hosted, I haven't played since Game 9, because they've started at times I've been away. The idea is that they are so fasted paced, or that this one will be (unless I misunderstand) that it's really not a long-term commitment and there will be plenty more in future.

Re: Future RP Ideas
That's not what I'm saying, though. Of course it isn't the end of the world, but it is very popular. Anyway, forget I said anything. I haven't slept in a while and my brain doesn't work quite right so I may say things that I haven't thought through thorougly.

Re: Future RP Ideas
No biggie, I get what you're saying, and I agree that as much as possible, effort should be made to include as many people as possible, I just think that at the moment, it's so popular that if you're going to limit the number to 15 anyway, there are so many interested players that 15 might not even cover it and that people would 'miss out' anyway. People will always miss out, for whatever reason, be it timing, or other, that's why we have more than one game!
I'm also not saying it should, or has to happen before the current one ends, just that this possibility should be considered.

Re: Future RP Ideas
Maybe I could open it up for signups, with active players in #12 disallowed from joining. If they finish up before we hit 15 players, they can join #13, otherwise we'll start once we get enough players. Thoughts?
Edit: Another thing... I'm trying to figure out the best way to handle worshipper inactivity. On one hand, I want them to communicate with each other before they PM me their choice, so that there is agreement, but on the other hand, if 1 worshipper goes inactive/doesn't participate in the choice of who to murder, I want to know about it, and I want to let the other worshippers make a decision without the inactive person. Does anybody have any suggestions about the best way to handle this?

Re: Future RP Ideas
We can even add some more roles, if we end up with lots of people.
Here's a thought on some possible roles:
Healer (picks someone to save during the Night)
Vigilant of Stendarr (picks someone to kill during the night, in the interests of revealing the worshipers)
Thief (blocks the abilities of someone during the night)
Town Gossip (until he/she dies there are two lynchings every day)
Village Drunk (can choose to find out the true identity of a person every night, but can only speak gibberish)
Baker (if he dies, villager have some limited amount of time to reveal the worshipers or they all die of starvation)
Medium (can investigate the roles of the dead, like the Seer investigates the roles of the living)
EDIT: Another interesting concept is the Lovers. This is a secondary role that anyone can get, and means that the two lovers can win by being the last two alive, even if one is a worshiper and another is innocent.
EDIT Mark II: Another potentiality is to have multiple independent groups of worshipers, for example some Molag Bal worshipers, some Hircine worshipers, and some Boethia worshipers, all of them working to be the last group left alive.

Re: Future RP Ideas
More roles are unneeded. she's trying to make a sleeker version of the MBG, not a deeper version.
As far as Worshipper inactivity, you might make an effort to pick people who are normally very active on the forum. Also, you might be able to coordinate a chat time with them so the decision could be made in a matter of minutes instead of hours. You could use AIM or any of the many other private chat room sites.

I'm just thinking it would be fun to do a twenty-person game with numerous roles. I'd like to try the faster version first and see how that works out.
EDIT: Further research indicates that the number of worshipers should be equal to the square root of the number of players minus one (the seer), to make things the most balanced.
