Yep, I got Black yesterday. It's okay so far...not a huge fan of any of the new Pokemon as of yet, except for Snivy. I <3 Snivy. Of course, when I chose him, I nicknamed him Smugleaf. Snivy is just not a great name.

Same here for the starter. First time I have actually used a grass type and liked it. I named mine Apophis :P Becuase I heart Stargate. Blitzle is good too

Yeah, I don't usually like Grass types, either. But Smugleaf is just too cool. And, yeah, I caught myself a Blitzle, but I haven't got around to training him yet. I probably should. The fourth Gym Leader is giving me absolute hell. I just cannot beat her. My Pokemon just aren't fast enough. I can't land a hit on her.

Dang, sithis, you are already on the 4th? I am training mine. and have only beat 2. But my team Has a level 24 Servine, level 24 Blitzle, level 24 Tranquil, and a level 24 Panpour, I like to train mine evenly

Btw, Blitzle learns a move called flame charge that raises your speed every time its used as well as doing damage. and I think it is the only early electric type avialable early.

Heh, yep. My team consists of a level 29 Herdier, a level 27 Snivy Smugleaf, an underleveled Panpour, an underleveled Purrloin, and an underleveled Blitzle. I always start out training mine evenly, but then I get bored and just concentrate on one or two Pokemon. Not very smart, I know, but it's just the way I play. I'll probably go train my Blitzle and then go catch a Sandile, like videogmer said. I might put my Purrloin in the Daycare, too.

Well, I got the shiny legendaries from gamestop, so I am going to hold off on any dark types until I can transfer them and get Zororak

Ooh, cool. :D The only Pokemon I've ever got from an event was the Mew they gave out during fall last year.

I'm training to face my eigth gym leader now. Team is: lvl 43 Serperior, lvl 43 Carracosta, lvl 43 Galvantula, lvl 43 Gothitelle, lvl 43 Golurk and lvl 43 Pawniard. Going pretty good so far. N is annoying, not so much to fight, but to listen to. I don't like him. I find myself more immersed in this game than most of the previous ones. Dunno why.

You get one for free in the Chargestone Cave, right after the fifth gym.

By the way, I'm about to take on the sixth gym. Is it sad that my only anti-Flying power at this point is a Sigilyph with Charge Beam?

Yes it is :D

I am glad I am training a Blitzle
And thank god you don't have to catch a thousand chanseys to find a lucky egg in these versions.

Just beat Drayden. I have to say, he's a LOT easier than Clair from G/S/HG/SS. Both dragon trainers, but she's an absolute nightmare in comparison. Now on to Victory Road!

EDIT: Do you guys nickname your Pokemon?

Only my starter, and because I love stargate sg-1, I nicknamed my Snivy Apophis  now I am desparately searching for a Psychic type. Really want Sigilgyph but it is like pulling teeth trying to find on in desert resort. Where did anyone else find theirs?

Sigilyph is really powerful. You could also get a Munna from that one place where you get your elemental monkey. Those are the only two Psychic-types available in the early game, though. How many Badges do you have?

Dunno which version you have, but Gothita(in black, of course) is available on route 5, and she's a pretty powerful psychic type. Solosis is available in the same place in white, and it'd probably be just as good. Woobat is also a possibility, and can be gotten as early as Wellspring Cave off route 3.

EDIT: Also, if you can wait until the Celestial Tower off route 7, you can get Elgyem, another good psychic type.

True, but I always try to avoid legendaries. Using them just feels...cheap.

And getting back to my nickname question, I always nickname my team. Right now, I've got Ivor[Serperior](named after a ranger from Heroes of Might and Magic III), Siouxsie[Gothitelle](named after goth music pioneer, Siouxsie Sioux), Salty[Carracosta], Buzz[Galvantula](admittedly a strange name for a female), Centurion[Golurk], and Chessman[Pawniard].

They really seem to be running out of names for the Pokemon, from what I read here. It almost just seems like they're mashing letters together.
