Re: QuakeCon - New Info
4 New Details From Gamesradar: http://www.gamesradar.com/xbox360/the-e ... 4555695026
1. Lots of customization for Argonians."We decided to go with an argonian character, tinkering with the usual Bethesda parameters, playing with body type, skin color, and minute facial features, but it didn't change the truth of our character – he was still a lizard/dragon man. We did manage to give him a sweet rack of horns, though."
2. We start the game with our hands bound: "Finishing the character, we appeared in a cave with our hands bound together, but a simple attack broke those bonds and soon we emerged onto a rugged slope."
3. Visible Wind Near Bleak Falls Barrow: "Another fantastic detail we noticed was a stream of visible wind winding down through a crevasse, bringing the bitterness of the rugged environment to life."
4. Dual Lockpicks are Different From FO3 Lockpicks: . "We also discovered a locked treasure chest at the bottom of a waterfall-filled cavern, introducing us to Skyrim’s very different lock-picking minigame. This time around, you have two separate picks inserted into a lock and your job is to feel out how the lock turns. You rotate one stick gently and then also twist the other stick – if the lock begins to turn, you know you’re at the sweet spot and can be a bit bolder (sorry PC guys, we don’t know how it will work with keyboard and mouse). The lock we tried was of the lowest level, so we’re not sure how finicky the higher locks will get, but it certainly was much more tactile and “real” than the systematic tinking from Oblivion."

I'm not sure, still sounds similar to Fallout 3 lockpicking. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

The Gamesrader preview is without doubt the worst one so far! How could he not know that those arches were bleak falls barrow!
not really! And what was that obsession with saying we! Was he sharing the controler with someone else? He sounded like Gollum!funny how we managed to wander into the exact same dungeon that was demoed earlier, but oh well

@Soda, yeah I was going to do a translation, but my real life French homework took longer than I expected.

No need for generalisations
it was pretty clear reading the article the journalist wasn't up with TES stuff. He used the term 'mana' for Magicka for instance. But I too digress.

at QuakeCon Todd said that "the Throat of the World" is the highest peak in Skyrim. Is there any mountain taller than the Throat of the World throughout Tamriel? - Yes in fact there is, next time I'll do my research better the highest peak will of course be Red Mountain. . .
I know this is off-topic, but it'll be quick I promise. How do you keep a postcount at 0? Posts in Skyrim don't count until the game is out. Your favourite pinkie, Argonanza. Now back ontopic, silly you.River wrote:[Thanks Man! But I think Bootysweat is pretty much carrying that load at the moment! Great work Bootysweat well done! Why the same way I find all that lovely info of course...........magic!!! lol. No really its because I have only posted on the Skyrim page and UESP don't count these as official post until the game is released.the Savage Hippie wrote:at QuakeCon Todd said that "the Throat of the World" is the highest peak in Skyrim. if each fist is armed with a spell, then expect the results to be doubled, but your use of Magicka to be halved
From that there 1up preview.

Gameplanet Hands-on Preview: http://www.gameplanet.co.nz/xbox/games/ ... -V-Skyrim/
Highlights:
Orc Berserker Racial Talent: " the orc racial talent is a berserker rage ability that doubles damage output and halves incoming damage. "
Racial Abilities Must Be Equipped:"We tried to find the button to activate beserker rage, but lo and behold it doesn’t exist. Instead, the ability must be equipped – yes, equipped – by setting down the shield. "
New Lore Book: "The book opened, revealing a engrossing history inspired by the mysterious disappearance of the British colony at Roanoke, Virginia. This was the most profound moment with the game. It demonstrates, as Howard enthuses, that Skyrim is a living, breathing world. Here, players will find a history and more importantly, a future to discover and define. Both the literal and figurative depth of the lore and characters is nothing short of an astounding achievement."

Re: QuakeCon - New Info
It seems the GamesRadar comment about equipping racial powers in your left or right hand are incorrect, per Nick Breckon

That quote is not accurate. Powers and shouts do not require a hand to be equipped -- they are simply selected and activated with a separate button (right bumper on 360, for instance).

Re: QuakeCon - New Info
Hmm, I hope that's the case, because I never used any non-passive power in OB since i always forgot about them. If they are easy to use then i will use them
edit: now that i've looked into it, it appears that the racial power will use the same button as the shout, RB on the xbox for instance. And they can both be favorited to ease their use.
So that seems like a pretty good system.

Just wanted to say a particular and slightly up-sucky thanks to soda popinski for this thread and it's management.
I have just spent most of the day reading all the links now in the OP and have to say it has a) been mighty informative, b) much easier than scouting out tons of info for myself and c) given me a big excited high for the release of ESV!
Well done Sir *tips hat* !

Re: QuakeCon - New Info
While watching the (pirated) quakecon video, I noticed that after Todd emptied a chest it was marked empty.
So no more "oh a container what can we find here, oh empty". The player already know it's empty (or you'll have to open it first to see if it's empty, in that case you can forget if you looted it. You don't have to open it a second time. Small change big difference.

Re: QuakeCon - New Info
That gameplanet preview [&@%!] me off so much, the guy obviously doesn't like TES, probably has never played any, it sounds to me like he got [&@%!] that he sucked in the demo and wrote a crappy review on it. It aslo sounds like he's just BSing and never actually played it.
i thought greater powers were once per day? like the dunmer gp is summon an ancestral guardian, and it, i know, is once per day. is it different with orcs?
so here's where i stand:
1. why would you have a specific button for gp if you could, with most races, only use it once per day?
2. why would it affect your horse? its not a touch spell.
3. why would it affect the horse that's already on fire?
4. why would it affect your STOLEN horse.
5. why would you make lies, which its clear he did, to demonize TES?
out of 12 previews i'd read, this is the only bad one. and the good ones are from more qualified websites: ign, game informer, gamepot, g4, 1up, all say it's great, this jerk thinks otherwise?
he must be a fable fan. he sucks at his job and should be fired.

Not changing this until Skyrim comes out, and even then, I'll probably be too busy... playing Skyrim...
Re: QuakeCon - New Info
It was later confirmed that you don't have to equip it you can have it on your shout button.xopsi wrote:That gameplanet preview [&@%!] me off so much, the guy obviously doesn't like TES, probably has never played any, it sounds to me like he got [&@%!] that he sucked in the demo and wrote a crappy review on it. Basically, you can have one shout or power equipped at any given time. You use the shout/power button to activate it at any time. It does not require the use of a hand.
