How do you make a canal with locks? Also, how do you make a volcano that spurts lava. Do you use a piston?

DAY 1:

Today, I found this diary. I plucked it from a skeleton just like Death had plucked the man from this life. The sun is searing down, I am boiling. I am in a hostile land. In the distance, I can see some trees. Some flowers. Some form of life.

Can't wait until 1.9, they'll add NPC's to the villages. I found one that had a blacksmiths. It had a small pool of lava and two furnaces.

Well, server's down, because minecraft.net is having gateway errors.
Also, do we have to generate anew map for certain features, or...?

I'm pretty sure that this update just includes the bug fixes for the errors found in the pre-release. The only world generation problem I am aware of was the one that made it so only one stronghold would ever be on the map. So a newly generated world should have three strongholds now.
