If you want help installing 1.8, follow these instructions:

1. Well, go to this link first, and go down to where it says Client, and click to download it.

If you have Google Chrome, it will ask you if you wish to save it.
Click save.

2. Then go to your Downloads folder, and find the Minecraft.jar or if it just says Minecraft, that's fine too.

3. Copy that file, then go down to the start menu, and type %appdata% into the search box.

4. Once you're there, find the .minecraft folder, then go to the bin folder.

5. Once you've gotten into the bin folder, paste the minecraft.jar into that folder.
If it asks you to overwrite anything, say yes.
Then, if you have a desktop shortcut, then click it, and you'll be good to go!
(Also, it will say Version 1.7.3 before you log in. Don't worry about that.)

so waiting did not work

bb.class
And on and on!

You have put the wrong jar file in the bin folder.
Look for the jar file that is equivalent to 1,849 KB. Even if it's called minecraft (1)

I had to remove the minecraft program and replace it with the minecraft 1.

It says done loading but there is still about an inch left and it's stuck there.
