Re: Post Your Character
Had a lot of fun with this character (posted at the end). I wanted to see how open the story was and several times I sort of "broke" the scripted events.
Several potential spoilers below (is this necessary warnign for such an old game : )
I initially tried to -join- the necromancers. That was a no starter. The closest association I got was my fellow Magisters and the Mage's Guild picking up on a newly developed body odor ("You stink of death! Been conjuring Dead things lately?"). At one point, Count Hassildor turned me into a vampire (long story) and I stayed that way for much of the character's existence. However, the pre-existing "You stink of death" comments coupled wtith the constant "You look ill" comments were damaging my self esteem, so I eventually got cured : )
At any rate, I decided since I could not join the necormancers and since my fellow magic users were pretty accepting of my ability to summon Gloom Wraiths and such in the middle of the guild hall, I would just hunt down the Necromancers to acquire their sources of power. This eventually culminated in an assasination attempt on arch-Mage Traven when he asked for the necromancer artifacts I had collected. I laughed, checked my pocket for a fresh Black Soulstone (for I had uncovered the Necromancer's secrets of these as well) and silenced him.
I then summoned an "outlawed" undead (Gloom Wraith I believe) and began to beat Traven down. He fled to the courtyard and all hell broke loose at that point. The Imperial Guard began to chase after me (I suppose they heard Traven's screams) and suddenly the courtyard erupted. Magister's and students a like came rushing to MY aid. So as bodies literally flew though the air and screams of "Murder" drowned out my actions, I cornered Traven, drop a soul trap on him and with a freshly summoned Storm Antronach, I.....beat him unconscious. Yeah, I was disappointed. Anyway, I seemed to have beat him severly enough to erase all memory of the assault so no harm done : )
So, I was very pleased when later the ArchMage did the job for me (as far as trapping his soul) and I proceeded to capture Mannimarco's soul and that of his somewhat over-confident bodyguard.
Aside from that, I'm maybe 3/4s way through the main quest and have moved up the ranks in several guilds. Did a stint in the arena during the "Vampire days"...Oh! Almost forgot - while a vampire, I was absurdly invited into a group of vampire HUNTERS. I agreed, went to some sort of secret meeting and then with a toothy smile I summoned my faithful Gloom Wraith and opened up on the room with a furious vegeance. Alas, more NPCs you CANT KILL. It was very disappointing.

Re: Post Your Character
Name: Caralia Mintha
Race: Mystic Elf (Custom Race)
Class: Da'covele
Birthsign: The Mage
Major skills: Every magic skill, except for Restoration, I used Blade instead.
So, Caralia was an apprentice of the Mages Guild and she lived in Cheydinhal where she was frequently sent on some missions for the Guild. One day, she was supposed to investigate a strange activity near the Morrowind border where an expedition of mages were sent, but didn't return. While she was walking on the road to the border, she was attacked by a bandit who would've killed her, but she is very talented in Destruction and burned the fool. She found a small book that was the bandit's diary and inside the bandit wrote of two stange towers that were heavily guarded by many silver-like creatures. Caralia figured that this was her destination, so she went up the hills and discovered the two towers. And they were guarded by silver men, carrying long silver blades. She attacked and she was succesful, killing every single one. One of them dropped a strange key and she opened one of the towers. Inside, she felt some kind of energy that made her feel powerful. She explored the towers; they used portals instead of doors, and she figured out that the towers were somehow not part of this world. She came to a throne room, where many pictures hang on the walls. She sat on it and immediately an evil spirit entered her body, thus making her corrupted. Caralia changed that day and she became the ruler of the Ancient Towers. Inside, she discovered the greatest magic ever and now is on a rampage killing people getting in her way. She plans on destroying the Empire, as she became really powerful. She first plans on attacking Cheydinhal, then the rest of the towns. And she will succeed.
Many thanks to the Ancient Towers mod!

Re: Post Your Character
I've recently started playing a new character that's turning out very well.
Name: Yves Refel
Race: Breton
Class: Witch Knight
Specialisation: Combat
Attributes: Strength, Luck
Major Skills: Blade, Blunt, Hand to Hand, Armourer, Heavy Armour, Alteration, Mysticism
Birthsign: The Thief
Yves is a Witch Knight, trained in fighting discipline based on the knightly orders of the Iliac Bay and some minor hedge magic of the Glenmoril witches to be a protector and ingredient collector for the coven. He was sent to escort a witch to Cyrodiil on her mission to learn about the vampires of the Imperial Province. After they failed to get very far in finding them, her plan was to hire the Dark Brotherhood to kill a vampire and bring her the ashes for a divining ritual. Their acquisition of the ingredients for the Night Mother ritual was noticed by the authorities, and the guards came to arrest them in the Imperial City. The witch resisted arrest, and after a short fight she was killed, Yves left unconscious and bleeding. He survived his wounds, but was still left with a long prison sentence until he got an escape opportunity. After the death of his ward, he doesn't think he can return to the coven, but still wants to try to finish the mission himself and learn more about vampires to satisfy his sense of duty.
He's not a conventional knight, but does have a code of sorts. He'll fight for pay if the money's good enough, and he'll take on quests to aid people in trouble - but only if they've actually tried to sort out their problems for themselves first. This is quite enjoyable to play, because it's turning out to be one of these characters with a mind of their own who sometimes surprises me. He risked his neck to help out at Kvatch when the guards were doing all they could but needed some aid, but when he later handed over the Amulet to Jauffre, Yves just walked away after Jauffre sat back and tried to order him around (and he didn't even take anything from the supply chest, just on principle, even though I do that every other time).
One interesting gameplay quirk about Yves: he's deaf. I play with all volume sliders except music down to zero, with subtitles on to follow dialogue (which works for me, I find the male elf voices really annoying, and I've played the intro enough times that I can do fine without hearing Emperor Jean-Luc Picard again). As a heavy-armour type it doesn't make the gameplay as dangerous as I'd expected (from being unable to hear enemies behind me) because I can take a few hits from a surprise attack. It does make lockpicking a lot tougher though - this is the first game of Oblivion in a long time where I've ever run low on lockpicks.

Re: Post Your Character
Here's my current character, but I might make a new one later today.
Race Imperial female
Birthsign The Warrior
Class Knight, level 11
Specialization: Combat
Attributes: Personality, Strength
Skills: Blade
Block
Blunt
Hand to Hand
Heavy Armor
Illusion
Speechcraft
I'm in the middle of the main quests, and I just finished Knights of the Nine. Just started playing as her yesterday, but I'm getting bored of swinging around my weapons non-sneakily. Joining any of the sneaky guilds would make her like the Orc in the Dark Brotherhood.

Re: Post Your Character
Name: Mordred Spector (son of my Morrowind character)
Species: Dark Elf (the BEST race in the game)
Sign: The Atronach(best birthsign)
Level: 10
Class: Archmage(cross between archer and mage, used image of archer)
Skills:
-Conjuration, because I can't be the only one who wants an army of skeletons on my side and it is my favorite magic skill
-Alteration, because it is an essential skill for all decent spellcasters
-Light Armor, because it's infinitely better than heavy armor and looks great
-Restoration, because I roleplay the character as being a bit of a steroid freak
-Marksman, because it's an essential archer's skill
-Blade, because of the +10 bonus and the fact swords are much cooler than axes
-Destruction, because it's the other mage skill that cannot be left out of any build
Guilds:
-Mages Guild, because they are forever my favorite elder scrolls group
-Dark Brotherhood, because my character's a nasty bugger and likes to hide behind lots of Argonians when confronting Jyggalag
Gear:
-Glass Longsword
-Elven Shield
-Ebony Longbow
-Elven Cuirass
-Elven Pauldrons
-Mithril Helmet
-Mithril Greaves
-Mithril Boots

Re: Post Your Character
Made a new character yesterday.
'Cougar' female Altmer: 'Aunt Celeste'
Wears:
Dark Seducer armour
A tan
Too much lipstick and eyeshadow
Is a mistress of magic-but must never under any circumstances be in the same room as a xivilai, lest involuntary wailing and eye-gouging be engaged in by spectators.

Re: Post Your Character
My current and favourite character:
Name: Veynil Rathlass
Race: Dunmer
Class: Mage
Level: 27 (I lost all of my saves a month ago so I had to start over. When i'd first made him i capped at lvl 52 I think or maybe 55)
A ruthless, grim, serious youth hungering for knowledge and power he came to Cyrodiil from the summerset isle where he was being taught the art of magic by his father. However his views were somewhat different. He was fascinated with daedra and set out to cyrodiil in order to track down the cults there and summon all of the daedric princes (he never doubted that he would succeed). Once in Cyrodiil he joins the mages guild in order to obtain information and further training in magic. As an associate he travels around cyrodiil earning recomendetions and tracking down the daedric cults. During that time he makes an additional income by joining the Dark Brotherhood when Lucien Lachance visits him after he killed an imperial legion soldier who stood in his way (long story
). After that he earns his place at the arcane university and quickly rises through the ranks as one of the best mages ever to set foot in the university. As of now he has inherited Frostcrag spire from a deceised relative and has somewhat distanced himself from the guild in order to focus on personal research, Daedra summoning and assasinations for the brotherhood.
That's it (roughly) until now. He's still in progress
I've got no screenshots though :/

Re: Post Your Character
Decided to make a jack-of-all-trades.
Name: Michel Mauvais
Race: Imperial Male
Class: Default Assassin, with an emphasis on alchemy and blade. Uses restoration and destruction, though those aren't favored skills. I'm level 18 or so. Everything kills me because I have OOO installed and the difficulty's pretty high, though.
Finished the Main Quest, finished the Thieve's Guild, finished the DB, in the middle of the Fighter's and Mage's guilds. Doing the Pilgrimage in the KoTN, but haven't started on the Shivering Isles. Not doing the Arena because the armor looks too feminine.

Re: Post Your Character
Aleriana Tirieth (formerly Aleriana Valspar)
High Elf Noblewoman (currently level 7)
Born under the sign of the Tower(might use the console to change this later)
Chosen Class Attributes: Personality, Willpower
Class Skills:
Blade
Destruction
Illusion
Mysticism
Restoration
Mercantile
Speechcraft
Other Skills of Note:
Alchemy, Sneak, Alteration
Once a resident the Elven Gardens district of the Imperial City, she lived with her husband Arethos Vaspar, also a High Elf noble of good repute. While things looked picture-perfect from the outside, the marriage was not a loving or happy one for Aleriana. Embittered by being bought and sold like a commodity through such pretty phrases as 'dowry' and 'inheritance' and 'duty to one's family', her looks, status, and husband's possessive and dominating nature damning her to a fate as a shallow courtier and trophy-wife, the skill in magic she practiced all through her youth atrophying slowly from neglect and the oppressive forbiddance of her spouse, she slowly began to ponder ways to extricate herself from this hellish political prison of half-spoken secrets, open lies, false smiles, and stone hearts.
After one of her husband's trips to 'conduct business', which she knew was code for one of his many mistresses (the gold-digging skooma-sucking [&@%!]....), she prepared his usual nighttime glass of wine for him. She being the docile housewife, Arethos did not think twice when she mentioned this was a new, specially distilled delight. "Let us hope it is a marked improvement over your skill in nightly pleasures..." he said, sitting in his favorite chair and downing the glass in one gulp. She simply smiled. "Oh I think you'll enjoy it. It took me many months to collect the ingredients, and many more to distill them down to just the right potency to allow for a nice prolonging of it's enjoyment." As her husband looks on in horror, a strange blue liquid oozing from his gasping mouth and nostrils, she simply continued. "Let's see, tigerlily, nightshade, wormwood...I must say the hardest part was finding something to balance out the frost salts. They are so difficult to obtain, but the sacred lotus seeds and tigerlily nectar do such a good job of slowing the seething cold lethality eating away at your insides down to a crawling pace, don't you think? And they give the Wine such a smooth flavor..." She reminisced as she calmly stepped over to him. She caressed back a few straying strands of his hair as he stiffened with tension and fear, straining against the back of his armchair, the blue liquid now oozing from his eyes and ears, freezing on his checks. "Goodnight beloved husband," she said, her voice now cold and bitter, as she sat across the room sipping Cyrodillic Brandy for the next few hours, enjoying the piteous sounds of her husband's gasping and retching.
Sadly, however, her new-found freedom was not to last, as her husband was indeed an important political figure, and she hadn't really bothered to cover her tracks. She was arrested, her home seized by the state, her alchemy notes and arcane formulae burned by some errant official believing them to be too dangerous to exist.
In the Imperial prison she waited, and rotted, nearly all that was left of her talents fading and forgotten. She had all but given up hope when a stroke of good fortune came on an unexpected day. The Emperor fleeing from assassins, through her cell!!! And leaving the way open and clear behind him?? Even moreso, trusting errantly in her to find his last heir and restore the Septim line? Oh, she would indeed seize this opportunity. Bloodying her hands for the first time in years, feeling that spark of ruthless determination kindled within herself once again, she happily stepped over the Emperor's fallen form and into the sewers, embracing her new destiny.
Walking into one of the finest shops of the Imperial City, a pocket full of money earned through fire and blood with the possessions and gold of goblins and cultists, she bought an extravagant dress of black and burgundy, and a sparkling amulet and shoes to match. She chose a new surname for herself, one that aptly means 'elegance.' After all, if she is to ascend to her rightful place, (with the aid and endorsement of one very grateful Imperial heir) she must seem the part of the influential political power that she always knew she deserved to be.
After a short stop in Weynon priory, she rides to Kvatch at full speed, a mind full of newly learned spells and a heart full of dark ambition driving her on...

Okay, so this is by no means the end of the story, but I don't really wanna post any more of it unless ppl want me to continue, cuz I think this beginning kinda stands very well on its own.

Re: Post Your Character
I've never played a mage, so I decided to take a crack at it and play a Breton witch.
Name: Lilia Vette
Race: Breton
Sign: The Lover
Class: Witch
Skills:
Alchemy
Blade
Conjuration
Destruction
Illusion
Mysticism
Sneak
Born to a minor nobleman, Lilia was educated in the etiquette of the court. Her tutors instructed her in dancing, song, verse, and literature. With skin as pale as marble, and eyes like winter fire, she was a beauty to behold and her father hoped to marry her off to a wealthier family. Though many suitors came to court her, the strange and sometimes cold young woman turned up her nose. She had no interest in their empty flattery or fickle hearts. She spend her days locked in her room, gazing at her reflection and as she combed her dark, wine-colored hair and sang softly to herself.
It was apparent to everyone save the lord of the house that his daughter was quite mad.
He refused to hear from anyone of his daughter's peculiar behaviour and adamantly denied she was anything but a sweet young girl. When a maid rushed out of her room claiming Lilia had attacked her with a pair of scissors, he dismissed the girl from his service and forbade anyone to speak of the incident. His search for a suitable son-in-law continued.
Lilia meanwhile grew ever more lovely and strange. Mad though she was, she caught the attention of a young bard who entertained her with stories of great heroes and villains from days long past. He also noticed a talent for spellcraft in the Lord's daughter, and in secret began to teach her to use it. As the hours spent together grew longer, their love bloomed like a hidden rose.
Hidden by necessity, as of course the bard had not a penny to his name. For some time, despite her madness and his poorness, they were happy. This was to change one day when, as Lilia was gathering a boquet of flowers by the stream, her lover stole a ring of silver from the jeweler in town. He had meant it to be a gift for her; a promise of his undying love and a request that she run away with him. Though he was a witty bard, he made an unfortunate thief, and was caught and promptly hanged as an example to any other would-be felons.
When Lilia returned with her skirts clutched full of roses and violets, she found her love hanging from the castle gate. She let out a shriek of loss that was heard throughout the surrounding countryside and fled into the wilderness, trailing flower petals behind her.
Mad as ever, she now lives as a witch of the wilds, singing to the trees and conversing with the dead. Bitter and resentful towards the world, she remains hidden from those that would seek to find her; but perhaps not forever...

Yesterday upon the stair, I met a man who wasn't there.
He wasn't there again today. Oh how I wish he'd go away!

Daniel
Male Nord
The Warrior
Combat Spec
Viking (Custom Class)
Endurance, Strength
Blade
Block
Heavy Armor
Armorer
Restoration
Destruction
Athletics
Attributes:
Endurance: 100
Speed: ~60
Strength: 95
Skills:
Blade: ~70
Heavy Armor: ~70
Armorer: in the 60s somewhere
Gear:
Blade of Respect (Custom Enchanted Glass Shortsword, 15 pts absorb health, 5 points shock, fire, frost damage, soul trap. All effects are 1 second on strike)
Estucheon of Chorrol (the 20% Reflect damage version. I got it a bit early, bit of a shame)
Full Orcish armor (no helm)
Fin Gleam
Azura's Star
Skeleton Key
Level: ~14
I'm quite liking this character, made him a Nord because Skyrim is coming and, well, I like to play the cannon way on my first time. Exception being Oblivion because the story had nothing to do with Imperials.
He's doing reasonably well. The Weapon only has about 24 charges at full though, can cause problems when I use up all of the charges on a single enemy. Luckily I have a Soul Trap 20 seconds on Touch spell that I can use if that happens, in order to be charged for the next enemy. Still, it's a bit annoying, but the weapon is pretty strong at my level.
I'm up to More Unfinished Business in the Fighters Guild, and have gained Arcane University entrance (apprentice level I think?) Other than that I've just done misc quests. I don't think I'll end up doing Thieves guild or Dark Brotherhood, might save that for a Breton Nightblade I'm planning.

If you dont detect this little sneak, then yer as good as dead to the mastery in blade and almost mastery in sneak. Plus if you do he really doesn't have a problem summoning up a lich to whoop their NPC butts. This is my definite #1 character, due to accidentaly over saving my Redguard character.
