You should be able to join good or evil sides of guilds from the begining, then not able to go back on your decision. Like you can join the Fighters Guild or The Blackwood Company, but once you join one, you can never join the other unless it is in a new file. So here are contrasting ones you should be able to join.
*Fighters Guild vs Blackwood Company
*Mages Guild vs Necromancers
*Thieves Guild vs Hiermonious Lex and waterfront guards
*Dark Brotherhood vs Adamus Phillidia and the Leyawiin guards
*Blades vs Mythic Dawn

If they did that, it'd be cool to implement a Disguise skill, where your skill level allowed you to alter your appearance an increasing amount, then name it as a particular disguise (like custom naming a potion). Then you could snap back to your normal guise, etc. or don different disguises.
Kind of like the Grey Fox hood, any fame/infamy while in that guise, would be assigned to that identity.... That way, at least there'd be a roleplay reasoning behind why one guy (or gal) can become the Grand Champion of the Arena, the Archmage of the Mages Guild, the leader of the Fighter's Guild, the head of the Dark Brotherhood, and the Grey Fox, all at the same time!
In keeping with this, those of the same race as you (or your current guise) should have a better disposition to you (or worse if there was racial enmity between your current guise and the NPC's race)...

Yeah, I'm on a 360 so I can't put in all those awesome mods I keep seeing. I wish my machine was a bit more powerful to handle Oblivion. I don't think I'd enjoy the experience with all the graphics set to low.Fajita! wrote:There are several mods that fix this . . .Agent wrote:I'd love the ability to shoot arrows by horseback. unless you are on the 360/ps3 . . .
But that's pretty awesome that there's a mod like that. I've always pictured shooting arrows by horseback seeming perfect for Oblivion.

I think that is a great idea as it would be a tad more realistic, but what makes Oblivion so good is the freedom to do as you please without restriction or consequence (well, nothing but a simple bounty to pay for being a convicted bloodthirsty thieving murderer)!!!

I guess about the part of not being able to switch but still. If you are a notorious assassin that works for the dark brotherhood, do you really think adamus phillidia is going to happily let you join? It's almost like a choice. One gives fame, one gives infamy.Hoopster wrote:Daedricmudcrab wrote:You should be able to join good or evil sides of guilds from the begining, then not able to go back on your decision. Yeah true, but I wouldn't like to have other quests blocked cause I chose to do something else. I've only ever created one charachter and wouldn't want to have to start again just to do some other questsDaedricmudcrab wrote:Ya but the rest of the dark brotherhood knows who you are. Don't you think they'd just be a little mad if you swithced sides?

No, but your "alias" becomes world famous...But to be a great assassin you couldn't be world famous. Would be as useful as James Bond as a spy
Personally, I always take a bunch of quill feathers and drop one on my assassinated victims... Sure, the game doesn't recognize it, but I feel it just adds a nice "touch" to it all...

I like the idea of leaving the quill on them lol, nice touch.
Something else that I would change is that I would like there to be more benefits in owning a house other than for roleplay reasons. It's a handy place to sleep and you get a bit of food in some and much needed safe storage places but it would be good if owning one or a house in each city meant more. I'd like more food in them for starters and there would be many more things you could do too.
