Glass: Looks great
Daedric: Looks great, but I feel they went a little overboard with the spikes.
Dragonbone: Looks dull. Don't know why it just does to me.
Dragonscale:Looks great, and badass except for the helm. Not a fan of the open helms.
Ebony: Elegent while retaining the armor aspect of it. Easily the fav out of the options
Elven: Only looks good on a female altmer imo.
Blades armor + steel plate helm= amazing

Yeah I say ebony, but without the helmet. Daedric looks too over the top, Dragonplate looks too fancy, glass weapons look awesome, but the armor looks ridiculous. And Elven armor just makes your character look like a Thalmor. And for some reason I also think elven armor makes you look really fat....

My character wears a combo of light and heavy:
Daedric Helm and Chest
Dragonscale boots and gloves
It looks pretty sweet.
I have collected or smithed a suit of every armor and tried it on. I mix and match for fashion.
Also, wearing Daedric armor, gloves and boots, with the Dragon Priest Nahkriin's Mask is SWEET looking

Daedric has always looked a bit over the top. Did in Oblivion as well.

Deadric looks over done imo, ebony is epic, dragon bone is meh, dragon scale is pretty cool. I love wolf armor the most though. Though i do love optaining elven, seeing my thalmor attackers lay down slain and puny as i scrap them of all elven armor.

For my Nord, the dragon bone armor is perfect. It adds to his hulking, barbaric image while showing off his Nordic ingenuity; though a bit cruder. He's like a walking trophy and I can't think of a more fitting thing for the Dragonborn to wear to instill faith and a sense of security to the ppl of Skyrim. It really helps me get into that part of his character. Plus, the helmet is bad@$$!!

Honestly, I think they all look very good apart from Glass. Even Leather, Steel, and Iron have a nice enough look, but Glass is just terrible.

Glass looks okay but I want GREEN AND BLACK! Morrowind had the right idea.
So otherwise, I like Daedric for a evil character, Ebony for anyone, and Dragonscale as a light armor is my favorite. Orcish is also awesome.

Orcish is my second favorite cuirass I believe, because apart from being dark green it looks pretty realistic/badass like ebony. My current character was set out to be a sword and shield type badass, and I believe that look is best achieved with the ebony mail and special imperial helmet. The way the helmet is silver with a black mohawk and ebony mail is black, blue, and silver, it makes me all happy.

I remember somebody wanting that special black mohawk helmet... where do you find it?MorroWeiner wrote:Orcish is my second favorite cuirass I believe, because apart from being dark green it looks pretty realistic/badass like ebony. Also, Morrowind's glass armor seemed like... I don't know, grab pieces of spiky "glass", some kind of extra hard and unbreakable see-through material that you can't exactly -smith-, though maybe it could be cut (?) and try putting more-or-less fitting pieces into other material (some leather, maybe a little metal of some kind), that made it look spiky and sort of crude, but somehow still armor-like and very much badass. At least that's how I imagined it was done, from what it looked.
In Oblivion it looked like you put on a spacesuit made from plastic, like those little plastic toys you can give to your smaller children. I hated it so much that I never played through the level where every bandit started wearing it, it simply destroyed the overall feeling of the game.
Skyrim has it better, imho it looks like an armor again, but I don't know... the glass pieces shouldn't have curvy parts, and where they do, that should be on the inside (so it doesn't cut you). Also, malachite... ugh, I don't know if you have a piece somewhere, but you can cut that with a kitchen knife, not even too hard. Not too practical for armor. And it's categorized as "light" armor, which is sort of okay, it's really light... but "light" armor is for sneaking, and I really can't imagine sneaking around in that big, bulky thing. Light armor, besides being light, should be small and sort of form-fitting.

Like ebony, malachite isn't analogous with its real world counterpart. It would indeed be useless (but then so would glass armour you would thinkNLN wrote:MorroWeiner wrote: Skyrim has it better, imho it looks like an armor again, but I don't know... the glass pieces shouldn't have curvy parts, and where they do, that should be on the inside (so it doesn't cut you). I would switch to Dragon Scale as my light armour of choice, but I really dislike the shield for some reason.

Re: Ebony armor vs. Daedric vs. Dragonbone, Glass and Elven
I think the glass weapons look great, but the armor puts me off for several reasons.
1. It looks like heavy armor. I just can't stand watching my previously lightly armored character suddenly have huge plates of armor jutting everywhere. It just looks like armor that would be in the way.
2. It's ugly and vaguely Sci-Fi, which is fine for Might & Magic, a rare piece of armor, or a mod, but the current glass armor set just sticks out and clashes horribly with everything else in Skyrim.
Thankfully, there are some mods that have much better versions of glass armor, so I don't really have to deal with it anymore. Hooray for mods!
