Try pressing the scroll wheel on your mouse, or hold down the camera key on your keyboard.

Thank you for the tip! I will most certainly use it some time soon!

You can also use the following console command:
~
tm

To remove the HUD (in-game menus). It even removes the crosshair and is thus very useful for screenshot making.

I would have loved to use the console for all sorts of commands, but unfortunately, as my version of the game is not a licenced, but a downloaded-and-cracked one, it is quite prone to major errors - especially when I try to use the console.

Uses different types of equipment on different occasions (e.g. Fur Armor in the Jeralls, a Quilted Doublet and Tan Linens in the warmer regions, Black and Burgundy Outfit in the cities, heavily enchanted Daedric Armor while fighting strong opponents, Blades Armor while doing quests for Martin and so on). But three items always stay the same: Ring of Namira, Ring of Perfection, and Goldbrand.

Being rather keen on roleplaying, I have thought up the following nonsense bio:

"I thank Akatosh for the noble mission that I was given.
I thank Dibella for the many happy nights that I have spent with the man I love.
I thank Arkay for the time that I am allowed to use for fulfilling my tasks.
I thank Zenithar for the hard work and patience through which I have accomplished many an impossible feat.
I thank Mara for the ties of friendship that she has forged between me and so many people that I have met, to replace the ties of family that I no longer have.
I thank Stendarr for the many times I survived when danger was so close.
I thank Kynareth for the endless, tempting, ever-surprising wilderness that I am free to explore.
I thank Julianos for the knowledge that I strive to acquire every time I set out into the open.
I thank Talos for the strength and valor with which I try to vanquish the enemies of the Divines, the Emperor, and my countrymen.
I thank the Nine for being Tarkeena the Redguard".
Tarkeena's personal prayer.

Tarkeena the Redguard was born on a small farm, lost somewhere in the Hammerfell wastelands, quite near the border with Cyrodiil. Her father, a pirate and adventurer, was lost in the sea when Tarkeena was but two years old. She was brought up by her mother, a stern, no-nonsense housewife, constantly occupied with the thoughts of how to find food and make it through another season. Not able to bear her piteous surroundings, young Tarkeena would often run off into the wilds, not returning home for days on end. As she was coming back to the farm from one of her late-night wanderings, the twelve-year-old adventurer was captured by a gang of marauders, who made their living by kidnapping children and selling them to vampires as a source of nourishment. Tarkeena's mother, who ran out of the farmhouse upon hearing her daughter's screams, was shot through the heart by the marauder archer and died instantly because of the shock spell with which the arrow was enchanted. Along with the other unfortunate youngsters, Tarkeena was transferred across the Cyrodiil border and taken to a ruined fort from where the "food delivery" was to be picked up by the vampires. However, the children were resqued before that could happen. An Argonian explorer, adventurer, and bounty hunter, known by the name of Kills-and-Smiles, cleared the fort of the Marauders' den and saw to it that all the children were safely returned to their families. As Tarkeena now had no family to return to, she unobstrusively tagged along with Kills-and-Smiles, despite all his protests. After a couple of weeks of loud rows, the Argonian gradually got used to the thought that he now had a small and annoyingly inquisitive sidekick. Together, they crossed half of Cyrodiil, doing various tasks for farmers and citizens, looting dungeons, discovering new landmarks and becoming more and more fond of each other. Years later Tarkeena, now a tall and strong young maiden, and Kills-and-Smiles, whom she grew to regard as a sort of a surrogate elder brother, ended up in the Imperial City Waterfront, although the reason for their coming there is somewhat unclear. They hard hardly spent two days enjoying the pleasures of city life, when doom struck. A certain follower of Mephala's cult, who had apparently received the Daedric Lady's favourite quest, murdered Kills-and-Smiles in his sleep and pinned the evidence on Tarkeena. After a brief trial, overwhelmed with shock and grief, she was sent to the Imperial Prison. The rest is history...

Despite all the unfortunate events in her past, Tarkeena has found the strength to carry on. She is still fascinated with travelling and exploration; there are few places in Cyrodiil which she has not visited. During her wanderings with Kills-and-Smiles she has formed in her mind an ideal image of a true adventurer - honest, noble, courageous, true to his word and devoted to his friends. She takes particular pride in her membership in the Blades, and will do anything to protect Martin. Her guild duties are also very important to her; she divides her time between serving the Empire and performing assignments for the Fighters' and the Mages' Guild. Whenever she is free, Tarkeena indulges in her favourite hobby - alchemy. Nothing can be more rewarding to her than studying the curious properties of the herbs and fungi that she finds in the wilderness. Being quite a successful dungeon crawler and the Arena Grand Champion to boot, Tarkeena has already saved up enough money to buy and furnish houses in all the towns she has been to. She enjoys the feeling of possessing a home of her own, and also loves to invite her friends to spend a couple of days over at her place. Open-hearted, outgoing and always eager to extend a helping hand, Tarkeena seems to have friends in every settlement, big and small - but there is one particular friend who is really, really special... Tarkeena's relationship with Modryn Oreyn, which started around the time when the two of them defeated Azani Blackheart, has been the subject of gossip under Chorrol's Great Oak for quite a while. Neither of them seems to mind the fact that he is a Dunmer, she is a Redguard and the age gap between them is somewhat substantial. Most of Tarkeena's friends prefer to close their eyes on this peculiar alliance, but some of Oreyn's kinsmen - and especially his Ancestor Guardian- have more than a few things to say on the subject.

Tarkeena's current goal is to explore the mysterious realm of the Shivering Isles and her greatest ambition is to become the Master of Speechcraft.
In between the lines there's a lot of obscurity.

:D I read all of your story, i like it, and i like how you chose Modreyn Oreyn, i kinda like him, lol-ness :)
In my game, im gonna choose J'ghasta, but when i find out i have to kill him, and he wont accept me, my character steals his soul with a black soul gem, so he can never leave me :Twisted Evil:
I like the element of my character slowly descending into madness, cos of his twisted life, and the fact that he is forever doomed to be a vampire, and will never have the relief of death.

You should extend your story, by writing a fan fiction, I am going to post mine on Fan Fiction.net, i would definetaly read your story.

If you consider doing it, i just have to say, try not to do what everyone else does, and write about what happens after you leave the Imperial Prison, cos everyone does the same thing, and i personally prefer to read a story that is based on Oblivion, but not the campaign.

I talk alot, on the web, sorry, you probably dont have so much spare time as to write a Fiction, so just ignore my blabbering
You are kinda right to some extent - I am rather preoccupied at the moment, but I really used to write quite a lot of fan fiction several months back. It was about Harry Potter, and most of it was in Russian, Russian being my native language, but still. I also started writing a book of my own in English and had already finished the, like, eighth chapter, but then my PDA where all my stuff was stored got stolen in McDonalds, while my friends and I were celebrating passing our very first university exams. Speaking of very first, it ironically was the very first time that I was pickpocketed in my life, and what's more I hadn't transferred anything to PC, so it was a major disappointment, and I am ashamed to say that I cried a lot, and after that I developed a sort of writer's block. I have just started getting over it, by fits and starts, so to speak. Something is definitely stirring in that lazy brain of mine.

I will try and find your fiction, and read it thoroughly if I happen to have a free moment. Blast that linguistics homework! OMG, I think I have got way off topic. Anyway, it is always great to meet a fellow fan fiction enthusiast. :D Good luck!

My latest character...
Name: Tecullian
Race: Altmer Male
Class: Custom Battlemage
Majors:
Blade
Heavy Armour
Alteration
Conjuration
Destruction
Illusion
Mysticism
Attributes: Strength and Speed (mainly because Altmer start on 30 for these)

After being cast out of Summerset Isle for a murder he did not commit, Tecullian fled to The Imperial City to start a new life. Unfortunately, the Mages Guild would not accept him and he was forced to steal for a living. After being caught and thrown in jail, the emperor entrusted him with delivering the Amulet of Kings. He used this to get Jauffre to force the Mages Guild to accept him. Proving his worth in the Guild time and time again, he was eventually gifted Frostcrag Spire by a dying magister.
Not forgetting the people who helped him when he first came to the IC, he joined the thieves guild and used his influence to help out members with bounties. One day, while searching an ancient ruin for the thieves, he discovered a strange statue. After searching around, he found a man named Umbacano. Upon meeting the man, he realised that this man was his father who had abandoned him when he was a child.
Umbacano offered Tecullian, who he did not recognise, a job collecting ayleid artifacts. Eager to get close to Umbacano so that he could kill him to avenge his heartbroken mother, he eventually fought Umbacano in the ruin of Nenalata, who was attempting to become the next Ayleid king. When he defeated his father, Tecullian took the crown and staff and gained the power his father could not, becoming an Ayleid king. After killing Umbacano, a man named Lucien Lachance visited the new king and asked him to kill again. Thinking nothing of murder, Tecullian obeyed and found himself allied with a guild of powerful assassins.
After dabbling in Ayleid magic, Tecullian tapped into Necromancy. He has now changed alignment, and is planning on using his power to advance and secretly damage the Mages Guild, find Mannimarco and usurp him, becoming Arch Mage and undercover King of Worms.
When Tecullian has achieved his goal, he may travel to Niben Bay, where apparently a strange door has opened...

Guilds:
Mages Guild Wizard
Thieves Guild Cat Burglar (not advancing further here)
Dark Brotherhood Silencer
Blades Brother
Soon to be Mythic Dawn Acolyte and member of court of madness

Wears Crown of Nenalata, Daedric Armour, Ring of Mundane, Necklace of Swords, Ring of Namira or Khajiti depending on what I'm doing, Goldbrand and Spell Breaker. Carries staff of nenalata for RP reasons.
Before he became an Ayleid king, I played normal roleplay, with regular eating, sleeping and limited fast travel. Following his Apotheosis, he barely ever has to eat or sleep (but he must drain life essence to survive- vampirism) and I gave him about 600 magicka from permanent effects glitch. He's lvl 22 at the time I write this and I'm having a great time with him.

Ps sorry if my post is sloppy its my first ever post

ok, here's mine:

Name: Dennis Sharpjaw

Level: 25

Race: Argonian

Job: Scoundrel

Birthsign: The Warrior

Favored Attributes: Speed Strength

Major Skills:
Armorer
Blade
Light Armor
Illusion
Restoration
Sneak
Merchantile

Combat preferences: Sneaking and face-to-face combat with light armor, long sword and using chameleon and other illusion spells.

Story: Dennis is the descendent of El-Kadni Sharpjaw, a respected nobleman from Black Marsch.
Though his mother were just a simple maid. When Dennis was born El-Kadni sent Dennis and his mother away to live in Leyawiin
where they would be safe from the enemys of the Sharpjaw family, who would kill them if they knew of their existence.
Dennis spent his childhood in Leyawiin, oblivious of the great family he had descended from. He was a happy child who loved to play games and arrange practical jokes. He was liked by the argonian girls for his beautiful dark blue skin color, a quite rare color among argonians. When he reached the age of 23 he desided to make a yourney. He said goodbye to his mother and made his way to Imperial City, where he won a lot of money by betting on arena matches. He went to a bar with his earnings and ordered five glasses of beer and a couple of bottles of the bar's finest wine. Of course he got very drunk. So drunk that he picked a fight with a charming elderly breton lady when making his way to the inn where he was spending his nights.
He fought well and was persistent, but the 80-year old breton lady seemed to be one of those super-ladys he had heard so much about. He lost the fight and were put in jail for like twenty minutes before the emperor came along.

Guilds:
Arena - Grand Champion
Dark Brotherhood - Speaker
Thieves Guild - Master Thief
Court of Madness - Regent
Mages Guild - Wizard

Anyone mentioned elderstats for help on this? It's worked ok for my dude. Though come to think of it I never developed to come up with a backstory as to what led my dude into that jail cell to begin with.
I would be a procrastinator, but I keep putting it off.

Not too long ago I made a set of characters based around some fanfic I made up called the Zarian dynasty, about a noble (and evil) kingdom of Akavir who were recreated in the close of the third era by a Breton peasant. Just before the beginning of Oblivion, the force attempted to move their operations to Cyrodiil, but were attacked by the Imperial legion. Most of the soldiers were killed, but the four leaders of the organisation were jailed. At the beginning of the Oblivion crisis, they escaped from prison and began rebuilding their dark empire, this time with subterfuge and false identities to avoid being hunted. They are as follows:
Lord N'Zar:
Growing up as a Breton peasant known as Jacques Marseille, he always had a gift with swords and magic, and yearned to become an adventurer. His travels took him to the edges of the Jeralls, where he discovered a lost Ayleid ruin. Inside were many undead that would normally have butchered Jacques, but instead they bowed to him, qnd took him to a small room, where he found an ancient tome. Upon reading the book he discovered the lost Zarian dynasty and swore to rebuild it. From that point on, he was known as the powerful necromancer Lord N'Zar. Since emerging from the Imperial Prison, he used his powerful illusion magic to disguise both himself and his three champions so that while their appearance did not change, nobody recognised their original identities. Tasking his champions with investigating the task given to them by Uriel Septim, he set out to locate Mannimarco, in the hope of destroying his mortal aspect and stealing some of his power. To do this he joined the mages guild, and also goped to slowly corrupt it and turn it into one of his Dark factories.

He's a Breton male born under the apprentice with majors in Destruction, Illusion, Mysticism, Conjuration, Blade, Heavy Armour and Athletics. He is the leader of the new Zarian dynasty and is quite the powerful mage. As with his champions I have chosen to roleplay, something I have only done once before with an Altmer (oh wait, I just realised I posted him already) so it's quite a departure for me. He is also the first character I haven't efficient levelled with in over a year, and I forgot how fun it is to just sit back and play!

If anybody enjoyed reading this guy's profile and would like to know about his champions, I would be happy to post them. I won't post the others if nobody wants to read about them, and I might write their story as fanfic if anybody likes it. Just let me know if you want to read more.

Yay for fanfiction! To my mind, one of the greatest pleasures of playing Oblivion is creating stories about your character - and reading the stories others have written :D
In between the lines there's a lot of obscurity.
I'm not inclined to resign to maturity.

Yeah, I only recently got into fanfictions when I wrote a short story for my coursework about Fallout. Now I try to read loads of it, but haven't really written any proper ones yet, so I though I'd post Lord N'Zars basic story to see if I was any good at it.

That character reminds me of one of my first charcters, a heavy combat based Dunmer.
Does he have any backstory? He sounds quite interesting.

Sigrún the Wolf the Female Nord Gladiator
Spoiler:
Nicknames: Sig, Siggy, The Iron Maiden
Birthsign: The Warrior(10th of Last Seed)
Specialization: Combat
Attributes: Strength, Endurance
Major Skills: Blade, Block, Light Armor, Athletics, Restoration, Armorer, Alchemy
Favorite Guild: Fighter's Guild
Equipment: Light Armor, Sword and Shield.
Siggy was a Mercenary who lived in Skyrim for most of her life, but then started moving further south to find work. One night she was at The Feed Bag and got a bit drunk. When a man, who was also a bit drunk, started making some very raunchy cat calls, she decided it would be a good idea to punch his teeth out. Short story she was tossed into the IC Prison for assault. Needless to say she nearly shook the prison door off it's hinges after listening to Valen Dreth. Siggy has also developed a bit of a crush on Antus Odiil believe it or not, despite him being a bit green and overeager. One might say she is a bit like a gruff, grumpy old man, in a lovely, and freakishly strong, young lady's body of course.
Ra'venne the Female Khajiit Predator
Spoiler:
Nicknames: Vinny, Shadow Step
Birthsign: The Thief(16th of Evening Star)
Specialization: Stealth
Attributs: Strength, Luck
Major Skills: Hand-to-Hand, Mysticism, Alteration, Illusion, Mercantile, Speechcraft, Sneak
Favored Guild: Thieve's Guild
Equipment:No weapons(Fist Weapons: If only I played on the PC), Light Armor
Ra'venne was a member of the Renrija Krin from Elsweyr, and she spent most of her time as a spy in Leyawiin watching the Count and Countess, and in Bravil keeping an eye on Drels Theran. She ended up following Drels up to the IC, he was up there to have a very important discussion with the Emporer about the Krin problem. She unfortunately was caught and sent to prison for trespassing. She wasn't particularly phased by the whole thing, or Valen Dreth's yammering. You could say she's a bit of a cool cat, and of course always smiling. She also thinks Claude Maric is quite a dashing rogue. Despite being an Elsweyr girl all the way, she understands that the Deadra threat is not just an Imperial problem, and therefore is more than happy to help.
Nasunna the Female Bosmer Hunter
Spoiler:
Nicknames: Sunny, The Black Arrow
Birthsign: The Steed(25th of Mid Year)
Specialization: Stealth
Attributes: Speed, Agility
Major Skills: Marksman, Stealth, Security, Athletics, Acrobatics, Light Armor, Armorer
Favored Guild: Thieve's Guild
Equipment: Bow and Arrows, Light Armor, Shortsword
She grew up as a pickpocket on the streets of Bravil. She one day thought she had "raised" enough money to buy one of the filthy little shacks in her home town, but was shocked at the Count's outrageous request for the dingy apartment. She spoke with her would have been neighbor Luciana Gelena, who told her the shacks in the IC were more reasonably priced, and on top of that offered a gorgeous waterside veiw. So she went to the IC, and was a bit hungry from the trip, but didn't want to spend any of the precious little money she had. So instead she waltzed into a randomly chosen home and swiped an apple. Unfortunately the owner of the home was there, just came down the stairs in time to see the apple disapear from the bowl, and screamed for the gaurds. Now Sunny has had some experience evading gaurds before in Bravil, but nothing could have prepared her for the IC. After an impressive chase she was hauled off to prison for trespassing, theft, and evading arrest. She found immediatly after waking up in prison that she is quite claustrophobic, which Valen Dreth was more than happy to heckle her about. She rather fancies the Jemane brothers, and doesn't particularly prefer one over the other.
Morrígan Beirne the Female Breton Elementalist
Spoiler:
Nicknames: Morri, Lady Luck
Birthsign: The Mage(5th of Rain's Hand)
Specialization: Magic
Attributes: Intilligence, Willpower
Major Skills: Alchemy, Mysticism, Conjuration, Alteration, Restoration, Destruction, Illusion
Favored Guild: Mage's Guild
Equipment: Lovely Outfit, Shortsword
Morri was born into the wealthy and influential Beirne family of Highrock. At the age of 17 she moved to Skingrad, and always had the full support(money) of her parents. She went on a trip to the Imperial City one week, to go shoping and see about joining the mage's guild. She stayed at the Tiber Septim Hotel, and explored the city. While in the Market district, a thief came running around the corner out of divine elegance, she could hear the shopkeeper screaming for the gaurds. When the thief ran by he pushed the expensive dress into Morri's arms and kept running. A few seconds later the gaurds came out and arested her, when asked, the shopkeeper said she didn't get a good look at the thief, but said it must have been her. Morri was hauled off to prison, and when her family was told of what happened they disowned her in embarassment. All her worldly possesions were sold, and her house in Skingrad was sold to Lazare Milvane. One day she woke up to find a dunmer in the cell across from hers. He was quite rude and likely a bit insane, and taunted her for awhile. She became so flustered that she nearly tossed a flare spell at him, but that of course would have only made things worse for her, so she hucked a skull at him instead, at which point he shut up. Though she found it difficult at first, she experienced a great deal of growth. Not only in power, but also confidence, and understanding of the people around her. Before her little adventure, she would have never even set foot in Bravil, yet now her closest friends are those in the Bravil Mage's guild. She also learned that though money helps others in many situations, sometimes what people need help most with is blowing stuff up, and that is something she has become quite good at.
One day she went to see what had become of her old Skingrad home, and she met the man who now lives there, Lazare Milvane. She attempted to have a pleasant conversation with the man, but he would have none of it. He angered her so that she bit her thumb at him(Bite Thumb is what I call my frenzy spells)and he attacked her, she of course won the ensuing fight. This of course is self defense, and did not get her invited to the DB, but she would never dream of joining anyhow.
These are the characters I have actually grown attached to and made stories for. There is one more character, a Dunmer, but I haven't quite gotten all of her backstory figured out yet.

Okay, this is my first character linked to Lord N'Zar. If I can't pull this off, no more fanfiction till Fallout New Vegas.

Shortly before the events of Oblivion, Lord N'Zar was lucky to find himself grabbing the attention of a powerful wizard named Daros Telvanni. This powerful mage had fled Morrowind after being cast out of House Telvanni for stealing from Divayth Fyr, and found himself hiding out in a Hidden Camp in the Jerall Mountains. One day he entered the nearby Ayleid ruin in the hope of finding enough loot to buy his way back into the House. Inside many undead greeted him, but his powerful magic allowed him to destroy them with ease. Soon he was attacked by an enormous lich. The two fought for several days, but eventually Daros was triumphant. The beaten Lich threw back its disguise to reveal the unholy form of N'Zar. Since then, Daros has worked with the Lord to fulfil his own personal gains.
When he escaped from prison, Daros was sent not to be involved in the Oblivion Crisis, but to investigate a door in Niben Bay. He has since gained the power of a god, and usurped the role of N'Zar as grand mage and leader of the Zarian dynasty (I accidentally deleted N'Zar and then got Daros to fight Jygallag, okay?). He is soon to be Arch-Mage and King of Worms, and has good standing within the Fighters Guild and Dark Brotherhood.

Race: Dunmer
Birthsign: The Apprentice (I can't live with stunted magicka)
Class: Rogue Mage
Majors in all magic skills except Restoration and Alchemy (which are both really high anyway), Blade and Sneak. Tactics include casting a powerful array of spells at 100% effectiveness, sneak attacking with a dagger, and generally avoiding damage because, quite frankly he dies in about 2 seconds if I'm careless.
I hqven't actually played this guy in a while because I'm concentrated on my other two characters related to him. They're much more interesting and fun than him so I may post them soon.
