That's not long before the events of Skyrim, truthfully. His capture near Pale Pass didn't happen long after.
Know what would be interesting?
What if Ulfric and Tullius both died at Helgen, and Rikke and Galmar led the two armies? That would be different, huh?

Re: Imperial Legion (club/faction)
I think the RP should take place during the the Thalmor occupation of Cyrodill, maybe a rag team of Legionaries who silently get ready for the Battle of Red Ring. I sort of tired of Skyrim, but would really like to RP with you guys. Then again, I also don't want to do the time after Ulfric kills Torygg because we would have to follow certain rules and time frames. We should make a RP that is both flexible and lore friendly, and the Great War should be expanded upon. Then again, I'm just shooting of ideas, so what do you guys think?

well Rikke would inevitably win, Galmar is better at killing things than thinking. Though that's not a bad idea can I write the scenario if we do that?

Without Ulfric, I doubt any rebellion would last that long. It would be better if we could show some Legion strength, if you know what I mean, something that shows the true power that Imperials always hold, superior tactics and planning.

I actually just happen to love the Legion and want to discuss it with fellow Legion lovers, it doesn't matter the faction in my sig. We should all be children of the Empire, no matter the badges we carry.

I have an idea for our RP. Forgive me if I sound dumb, but what if after we finish defeating the Stormcloaks, we move on to conquer other places. Valenwood, the Black Marsh. And maybe even take it off the main continent, like braving the island of Akavir? And ovethrowing the Thalmor. Thoughts?

Re: Imperial Legion (club/faction)
I might be willing to DM an RP... But a few things would have to be ironed out first.
We will need to put into place a series of facts about the nature of the civil war, the good and the bad of both sides.
Religious repression. Acquiescence with Thalmor agents. Both true.
Slaughter at Markarth. Widespread state racism. Also both true.
I think that the best way to do the RP would be to do it Unionhack style... That is, short, sweet, to the point, with the possibility of more RPs in the future.
In short, if I were to create an RP, we will create a Legion Cohort, and run missions. Each roleplaying chapter would begin with free time in the barracks, briefing, planning, travelling, the operation, and debriefing and more free time. RP over. Using our same characters, we would continue in this same mould, with the DM (me) throwing in some cruel twists here and there.

I like that idea Eltee, I think we should go for the setting and time suggested earlier, the one that suggested we start the RP during the great war

Ehh... I'm not in love with the idea, tell the truth. We know next to nothing about the way in which the Great War was fought. If it were me, I would set it in the thick of the civil war, starting off in the early winter of 4E199.

Re: Imperial Legion (club/faction)
With this kind of thing, you are right, we don't need hundreds of pages to say: Br3admax slashed Thalmor/Stormcloaks left and right. He, then dice roll, dies. The end. I also support the Great War, we shouldn't post too close to Ulfric's uprising. I believe as long as we stay lore friendly we can make up facts from the Rising Threat series and the Great War book. I would advise staying away from the Bear of Markarth, really bias. Also stay away from, Nords Arise!, anything that doesn't come first hand or is neutralish, should stay out. I could even stretch it and say do a Talos's Red Legion Roleplay, but that's pushing it.

Re: Imperial Legion (club/faction)
I disagree strongly with that. Galmar actually was a brilliant and acute strategist. He proposed ideas like getting the Crown for Ulfric, to further legitimize his claims to the throne. He might actually be more dangerous than Ulfric. He's more blood thirsty, more cunning and more willing to fight at the drop of a hat. His downside is that he's not as charismatic or well liked, and might be unable to hold the Rebellion together.derp53 wrote:well Rikke would inevitably win, Galmar is better at killing things than thinking. I'm 100% behind the civil war idea. It just works better. Most of us here are fresh off Skyrim. We're familiar with the terrain, the factions, the gear, etc. Everything involved in that conflict. We get to witness two possible outcomes first hand. We only read about the Great War in biased book sources. I'd much rather stick with the Civil War.
I'm neutral on the point of DM, except to strongly reiterate that I don't want any part of it.

Re: Imperial Legion (club/faction)
Both Rikke and Galmar come to the same conclusion about the Jagged Crown and the only reason the Stormcloaks had any kind of advantage in that situation is because of Ulfric's knowledge of nord culture. also I'm with Pilaf on this, while I wouldn't mind Eltee DM'ing I'm essentially neutralPilaf The Defiler wrote:I disagree strongly with that. Re: Imperial Legion (club/faction)
What conclusion did Rikke come to? I played both sides, and Galmar is responsible for uncovering it in both situations. Rikke sees its usefulness as a symbol, but Galmar had the idea to actually follow a wild lead to get to it. You have to admire that spirit of adventure and that vision, even in an enemy.
I'm also wondering why you feel Ulfric's knowledge of Nord culture wouldn't also apply to Galmar. If nothing else I'd say he's a stronger nationalist and cultural purist than Ulfric is. Again, his downside would be lack of Charisma and the sad fact that he simply isn't Ulfric Stormcloak.
Again, it's just another of many ideas to slightly make this different from the storyline in the game.

On the stormcloak side the imperials get there first, so someone must have found it and i dont think Galmar OR Rikke found it themselves. A local or a scholar likely did since they are both high officers and when would they have the time to look for something like that?

Re: Imperial Legion (club/faction)
Go for Eltee, but can we at least keep it clean. I don't care if you push the lines, but I want to at least see them, if you know what I mean. And the real moral advantage for leaders, to go a little of topic, goes to the Stormcloaks. Nobody joins the Legion because they like General Tullius, do they? Tullius lack of knowledge on Nordic Culture really turns away a lot. And lets be serious which ending you like better the Legion's or the Stormcloak's? The Legion ending may not be glamorous, but at least it makes you rethink your situation and choice of side. The Stormcloak ending makes you wonder, "why would anyone follow this guy?" I mean surrender, take that to another province. He gave up before you even walk in. They should have let Rikke lead the Legion.
Listen to Rikke talk, Galmar finds the Crown first, she just follows him. Listen to Galmar talk, and he just has a hunch.Hissien wrote:On the stormcloak side the imperials get there first, so someone must have found it and i dont think Galmar OR Rikke found it themselves. Re: Imperial Legion (club/faction)
Yeah, Galmar finds it.
Also, did it occur to you that Tullius gives up because he's not a blood thirsty zealot like Ulfric? He's older, more experienced, has seen enough of war and battles. He's a man of peace. That's ultimately why he fights, to preserve the peace. Is there any end to the blood shed Ulfric has planned? A war against the Aldmeri Dominion led by Nords would inevitably throw untold Nord lives against a near impenetrable wall of magic and steel, and that's just the initial fight to get them off the mainland. To really crush them Alinor would need to be siezed. I can't fathom the Stormcloaks could put together that kind of army.
But that's a discussion for another thread.
