Faronhír gave the other a sharp nod, displeased by the Elf's attitude, before setting off back to Gondolin at a quick jog. He soon reached the city, and called up to the watchmen on the gate. "I have urgent news!" he cried up at them.

Findorin charged down the hill, dodging the trees quickly and fired some arrows through the trees, waiting for them to hit their mark.

"Opening up!" Called the gatekeeper, pulling on the lever.

"I must speak with the King," Faronhír called, entering the city, "without delay."

"Turgon is on special business with the ruler of Nargothrond!" Replied the gatekeeper.

Dwanum woke with a yawn and stretched. Shama heard the awakening and got up behind him. They walked out of the house and to the guard house. Dwanum said "I am ready for duty sir." Shama saluted the guard that greeted them when they first arrived.

The guardsman, who was the one that first met Dwanum yesterday, laughed. "You're enthusiastic! First you'll have to go to the registry office and get some form of identity and then apply for a job."

Shama sighed. Dwanum asked. "Could I have directions please?"

"Same place you probably went when you bought your house." He winked. "Your wife can stay here if she wants. There's a nice fire burnin'. The torches an' that don't come on until a few hours."

"Okay" Shama said. Dwanum nodded and walked off to the registration office and knocked

Shama looked at the man and asked on how guard duty was

"Well take me to the Captain of the Watch then," Faronhír pressed, "this is urgent."

"Guard duty... Erm... It's good. Very little trouble, only drunks and the occasional goblin. The pay's good and we get free food, armour and weaponry. Our taxes are also downgraded."

Shama smiled. Well that is good she said. Nothing to worry about. Dwanum knocked on the house again. Hello? He asked. I would like to register myself and my wife for guard duty.

The old man called him in.

Dwanum walked in and greeted the old man

"Ah.. You again." He smiled. "So, forgive my old ears, but what did you say?"

I am trying to register my wife and I into the guard business

The old man chortled. "Your wife? I'm sorry but only males are allowed to serve. Old traditions you see."

Oh I am sorry. Misunderstood another guaud. I would like to register myself as a guard

"Okay." He handed him a quill. "I have your details. Just sign... err... here!"

Dwanum signs the paper and thanks the elderly man. "I have one question before I leave" Dwanum says "What other jobs are out there for my wife to have, or are there not any.

The dwarf scanned through some parchment. "Hmmm... No. That's been taken. Wait... That's vacant. Oh... Taken too. There seems to be none, however, I will tell you when one arises. I know your details. If you need any help or guidance, come to me."

Thank you sir, I appreciate the help. Do I need to collect weapons here or somewhere else.

"There should be an armoury at the barracks." Said the old man croakily, barely audible over the hubub that was the dwarves walking up and going to work. "hurry, or you may find yourself drifting over to the mining area." He chuckled.

Dwanum smiled. Thank you. Dwanum ran to the guard house and to the man with Shama. "So, I am all ready. Where is the armoury?"
