Agreed, Eltee- we don't wish to see you return to the thread any time soon with news not positive!
As for increasing a fish's longevity, it's my understanding that improper environmental control- as in water temperature and quality and things of that nature- leads to most of our gilled friends' premature demise. I'm no expert, of course; have we any long-time fish owners?

Re: Pets
Oscar was put to sleep today. I think it was for the best. Apparently he wasn't eating or drinking, so no need to suffer.
He lived a very long and very good life. It is hard to know I didn't get a chance to say goodbye given how long we spent together. But it is what it is.
Rest easy, buddy.

He looks a lot like my old cat.

Re: Pets
Avron, the thing that scares me is that Oscar looks exactly like my grandmother's cat.
You can cry on my shoulder, too. I lost my cat a few years ago, but it was in a much different way. Kinda just walked into my basement to find her dead on the floor.... I was more than a little off after that.

I have shed tears for my own cats before, and now I am shedding them for yours, Avron.

Relax, guys. I think he just misread it. No need to get angsty.

Ugh, Avron, I'm so sorry about Oscar. He sounded like the perfect pet, to me. Any time you need to vent, or cry, we're always here.

Re: Pets
Thanks, Frosty.
He was pretty awesome. We had a good thing going for seventeen years...which also helps me know it is okay that he's gone. He was twenty-three, after all. T'was probably time.

Re: Pets
It's a shame that cats, for me and I'm sure countless others are as much a member of your family as anyone, should be comparatively so short-lived. I've had mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, and best friends who were cats, and even those that are now deceased make me glad that our lives merely mingled for a time.

Re: Pets
Yes, I think it's best that the doctors put him out of his pain, which he was most likely enduring. He had a great life it sounds, and 23 is longer than most cats live. It sounds like most of those years he was in good health, too, which was amazing. Rest in peace, Oscar.Avron the S'wit wrote:Thanks, Frosty.
