Annoys me too, if I tell an American I'm from England and they start speaking to me in a posh or Laaaandon accent, I ask "Where are you from?" then they say something like "New York" and I start speaking to them in a Texan accent. Burn.

Dude, I thought I was the only person that picked up on that. So many people use "could" in that phrase and for a while that's how I thought it was. Until of course I realized that it didn't make sense.

Argh! I thought I was the only one who noticed that! It drives me crazy!

Anyway, to add to my increasing list:

I tried to be a vegetarian when I was about 10, but gave it up within seconds of finding out vegemite was made from beef.
It sounds like The Most Unholy and I have exactly the same taste in music. I listen to everything, really, with the main stuff being old rock and 90s metal.
I PWN at guitar hero and I spent many happy months rubbing that in my little brother's face. He deserves it, because he laughs at me when I can't play his crappy racing games.
I pwn him at Star Wars too.
My Dad was a Catholic priest, until he met my mother. He swears more than anyone I know, and loves dirty jokes.
When I was little I thought the war memorial near my house was the tomb of Jesus.
I HATE ouzo and sambucca, but like licorice.
Once, at school, this guy on crutches was really rude to me and then tried to trip me, so I kicked his crutch out from under him and laughed when he fell over. :Twisted Evil:
Next month, I go on the Young Endeavour, a tall ship that travels around the East Coast all year. It's going to be AWESOME.
I love to sing, and have won a few karaoke competitions, but when I dance I look like an epileptic guinea pig.
My favourite time of year is Christmas, and I've already started buying decorations for the house, and ordering the seafood for lunch. I plan to do nothing for the whole week other than drink beer, watch cricket with the family, maybe go to the beach and then some boxing day shopping.
I have to work nightshift tonight.

thats mean.

i would have gone with a simple insult but tripping him is mean.

i love laconic phrases.

i am very good at it.

The most Unholy once asked me why i always told him to do things in a game and i said "because i am somewhat of a tyrant."

Agreed. (You're negatively implying that right?)

That would make him a hypocrite and that would mean the universe explodes due to time continuity errors.

I wasn't actually addressing that to Codex. "You" as in a hypothetical you, me, anyone in between. I was just wondering what would happen if— you know.

Didn't you wear goggles while paintballing? That's a shame.

I've never broken anything either, apart from a finger I guess (playing pool  ) but I've been stung by tonnes of things. Probably coz I'm always crawling around in dark places. That sounds wrong now that I've typed it

Anyway, so you don't all think I'm a total psycho hose-beast I'll explain the crutch-kicking guy.

I was late to English class and it was one of the last classes before the HSC exams (the last ones of high school for all you non-Aussies, so they're really important) so I'm running down a hallway and this guy is in front of me on crutches and I can't get past.
I've said "scuse me mate, can I just get past? I'm running late" and he turns a bit, says "F*** you b***" and keeps walking in the middle of the hall. I've said "you're a rude ***, get out of my way" and he jams his crutches out further so I can't get past, so I kicked one out from under him and carried on my merry way to class.

And I don't think you'd be a hypocrite if you turtured a sadist, unless you told him you were torturing him coz sadism is wrong. You would be Dexter.

hehe... turn all these statements positive and you have me! Well, sort of... I hate contact sports, I enjoy guitar solos just as much as the rest of the song, and I'm terrified of wasps (I was 5, bad experience)

Also, speaking of paintballing, I'm going today!

my pet Dirge

Removed because when I re-read the rules today I realized that I'm not allowed to post pictures of other people.

Hahaha burned indeed. I imagine most americans follow up with, "no dude im from NY." You shouldnt let it annoy you guys in the first place though. When you start taking jokes personally your social life is gonna suck.

I wish yall could see how me and my british buddy john interact. He lets the british jokes roll off his back and he counters them nicely with american jokes, and hes surrounded by americans! Hes a funny sob. Thats how it works though, crack a few jokes on each other and then grab a beer. That might just be me and my friends though, we constantly rag on each other.

Hes in my top 3 when it comes to picking up women. Chicks over here dig accents, especially british. The accents they dont like include east asian, and thick spanish accents (mexicans). Hes also naturally suave, like james bond.

lol whenever germans come at me with jokes about the english i normally throw a joke about germans straight back.
the fun ends though if it's a downright insult. i can take the mickey out of meself, ta very much. doesn't happen often though ;)

last day of work today. i had the most fun working in the office with the people from the ireland project - got to listen to english and irish accents all day long :D (yes, it kinda makes me homesick... )

university starts in 2 weeks. until then, i'll be recovering from work, writing my paper and learning latin ("Romanes eunt domus" and the like  )

Get me an introduction! Where abouts in Britain is he from? My personal favourite British regional accent is the full-blooded Glaswegian "Git tae [&@%!], ya wee [&@%!]!" affair. And having lived here for the best part of 2 years I've learnt to find the Birmingham accent quite endearing.

I don't take jokes like that personally, especially as I'm very good at countering them normally.

Reminds me of when I was on holiday in Florida a few years ago, we were at Sea World, me and my dad were in a queue to get a drink. We got chatting to this American guy and after a few minutes he said "Hey, your English is really good. Where you from? Germany?". He was genuinely surprised when we replied with "Er, no, we're from England"
