Re: Pets
I remember that, Leilah.
Thanks for the kind words and e-hugs, everyone. We'll see how things go for Oscar. No updates yet.

Re: Pets
I remember when my old b*tch of a cat died. She wasn't always antisocial. My parents got her when she was just a kitten, before I was born. Named Small One, after the movie. She only ever really liked my dad, since he picked her up from the shelter. She wasn't much of a pet, couldn't pet her, couldn't really even look at her, and she spent most of her time under my parents' bed. A few years before she died (it's been about 2 years exactly, on Cinco De Mayo), she contracted feline leukemia from a cat that she had gotten in a fight with in our back yard. I have to say, I wasn't very shocked, or even very sad when she died. She had been in the hospital, as we started to find little drops of blood on my bed, and she seemed very much in pain, more so than usual, being 17 and all. But she was a good cat, and I try not to forget about her. Meh, I guess that's my story.
On a more positive note, we did a test this morning with my dog. He has always loved coffee (see this meme I made), so we tested out what he likes about it. Here are the results:
Tea: Nope
Black coffee: Nope
Warm milk: Yep!
Cold milk: Yep!
So, I guess he likes the creaminess of the milk with the flavor of the coffee, because he can ALWAYS tell when you have it.

Re: Pets
Don't you go.
Won't you know?
I've held my love for you deep inside
You've always been at my side
My dear old friend,
I can't bear to see you ascend
I wish I could have you just one more day.
But I know it's not the way
You've kept me strong
But I can't go along
You will always be mine,
but this is the end of the line
I can't bear to see you go
I just need you to know
I will always treasure our time
Please forgive this small crime
I close my eyes and wish you goodbye
I don't need to give a reason why
Just wait for me on that comfy couch in the sky
Won't you know?

Re: Pets
Oscar is apparently drinking on his own again. Cat is as stubborn as I am. I'm a proud mama. But we'll have to see how he goes from here. Maybe he's got some spunk left in him!

Tiger in his last day couldn't move at all, just laid there in his bed, trying to purr when we came to pet him.
Sounds like Oscar is not ready to leave yet.

The youngest litter started to open their eyes. The smallest one strongly resembles Marty Feldman.

Hope he's fine, Argo.
You guys are making this a sad thread. How about we go to just posting pictures of pets and everyone D'awwws?

Re: Pets
Daaaaaaww! How adorable! That is too precious, Leilah!
Update on my kitty: he seems to have made a surprising turnaround. The vet confirmed that Oscar seems to only have suffered a temporary illness and that his blood work is surprisingly healthy for such an old cat. If he stays hydrated and eats he should be all right. No one is really sure how the devil that happened; we all assumed he was at the end of his days.
But Oscar always was one really surprising cat... I think he's going to live forever!

Re: Pets
Yeah! I just read back a bit. I'm glad he's doing okay!
My dog, Buster, I've had him, pretty much, as long as I can remember. He's 12, now, and slowing dow a lot, but he's still the same old puppy he ever was.
He's had a tumour on his shoulder the size of a grapefruit for more than a year, now. It sprang up in two weeks, then stopped. The vet said that removing it would cause enough pain to ruin his life, and at the moment it seems to be causing him no pain.
While I was in Europe, he took a major turn for the worse. He's prone to ear infections, and he got an espcially bad one. He was deaf for two weeks, and when I got home he wasn't eating or drinking. But, he's better now! Still need to clean out his ears every few days, his hearing and eyesight aren't what they once were, but he's still the same old him.
He's a mixbreed, Jack Russell and Corgi, both of which usually live to 16-17, and mixbreeds tend to be hardier, so... I'm hoping I can have a few more great years with him!

Re: Pets
Daawww, that's great that he rebounded, Eltee! I hope all goes well! It's amazing how resilient pets can be! I do love dogs. I always had one and they're very different from cats, that's for certain...but I do love those fluffy little whiskered pals.
I have a fish at work now. I'm terrified about it. I've never had fish before (he is a beta) and I am rather concerned about him dying, much like the last one, who was around for months and I got attached. I get attached very easily...and fish are so fickle!
